Vintage Style Tail Coats
In the early 19th century, the extravagant wigs and jewel bedecked clothing gave way to more austere look. Driven in part by the French Revolution and encouraged by society's favorite gentleman, Beau Brummell, mens dress became more proscribed and began the change to the solemn black and white dress wear we know today.
Regency Tailcoats were tightly tailored coats with high collars and were available in a host of colors beyond black including navy, burgundy and green. These were paired with fancy double breasted vests, fall front trousers and lavishly tied cravats.
As the decades passed, tailcoats became more sedate, featured only in black or white for formal events and swapping high collars for a flat lapel. You can still see this style worn today for weddings, black tie events and galas.
We offer tailcoats in a wide array of choices, fitting for lavish and stately affairs to whimsical and jovial steampunk gatherings. Fitting in is easy and never looked more dashing then in a tailcoat! Please contact us if you have any additional questions.
