Upon the death of a loved one, Victorian women were expected to enter deep mourning. Our black Antique Satin Day Suit, while decidedly dark, still communicates a dainty, lady-like image. You'll be hard pressed to find a better looking suit that follows the fashion etiquette during a Victorian mourning period.
A suit fashioned in two pieces, the blouse features a full-button bodice tailored to flatter the hourglass shape. Puffy sleeves and a pointed hem add additional era- specific detailing. The long skirt has a 10-inch ruffle along the bottom which is accented by black ribbon. For your comfort, the skirt is unlined and has a comfortable elastic waist. A slight sweep on the back hem can be left down or bustled up with interior ties. Wear with a petticoat or Edwardian Hoop Underskirt to add fullness. Length of skirt is approximately 39 inches.
Fashioned from 100-percent polyester. Imported. Dry clean only. Available in sizes S - 3X.
