Mrs. Sullivan, along with her husband, was one of the first arrivals to this town. During their initial journey, they went 5 days without seeing a house of any kind in this “wild and dreary looking place.” Their first house was a log cabin measuring 12’x 16’, and when the wind blew from the south, they had to open the door to let the smoke out.
During their 2nd year on the farm, her husband was called back east, and she was left alone to tend the farm for several months. She survived a bout of the ague and an Indian attack during that time. Due to her perseverance, she and her husband have a fine farm and five children.
