I ordered this cap for my father, who is approaching retirement. It arrived earlier than expected, which was wonderful; dad pulled it out and smirked a little, went and put on his new red pajamas, and sat down to watch vintage Charlie Chan mysteries for the evening. The cap is warm, fits perfectly, and is exquisite in both the detail of the embroidery and the texture of the velvet. Dad has since worn it every single evening as he winds down, and each time gets a smile when he puts it on. I could not be happier with this cap: exactly what I was hoping for, and then some!

This was a Christmas present for my dad who collects hats- he absolutely loved this one! The shipping was quicker than expected and arrived as expected. The only problem was the sizing- I had to order a medium for a size 57cm hat and I could have definitely sized down due to the nature of the hat. My dad likes it all the same- nothing a quick stitch can't fix. Will probably order another for myself or siblings!

If you do the research, even in today's acrimonious society, there is room for something of another era when gentlemen knew how to be a gentleman. Plus, if you're a wee bit shy in the hair department, it really does help to "warm up" the dome without suffocating it.

The Smoking Cap is one of two hats I purchased for my costume as Fagin in a local community theater production of "Oliver!" It looks and fits great - very comfortable. And the quality is excellent. In fact, it looked so elegant that it had to be distressed somewhat to go with the costume. But even after that, it still looks great and there is no doubt that I will continue wearing it on other special occasions in the future!

This smoking fez is just what I wanted. While it is whimsical and an 'extravagance' it brings me great joy as I wear it nightly at cocktail hour. The quality is high and the fit is perfect. If you feel the itch for something fun and good looking, scratch that itch with this fez!

Very high quality top hat that was delivered in a box commensurate to it's size. I had ordered two other hats from a different company and they were both crushed because of the small boxes they were packed in. This top hat and quick delivery was absolutely with the money. I have always wanted a Top Hat. I purchased the Wahmaker Highland Frock Coat and have worn it to Court (I'm a lawyer). When it came time for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Court House, I knew I had to wear my frock coat, but wanted a quality Top Hat that didn't look cheap. I ordered the Victorian Top Hat, the quality is amazing. The hat looks very nice and I intend to wear it occasionally come Winter. If you are needing a hat for a Victorian impression, I highly recommend this hat.

I'd been wanting a top hat for many years. I kept looking for one at hat shops - most don't carry top hats - and when I would find one, they never had them in my size, the shape seemed off or the quality was really not up to par. I'd got the Black Velvet "plain" Vintage Quilted Smoking Cap ("plain" meaning no embroidery on the side) because I wanted a warm cap to wear "indoors" during winter. I wear sweaters and turtlenecks indoors so that I can keep the thermostat turned down, reducing my heating bill. However, I still suffered from a cold head! I had pull-overs, toques, knit stocking caps, and a bunch of other, regular, outdoors winter-wear lids. But I had nothing even remotely "Ritzy" to wear indoors. The other stuff made it look like I'd just come in from checking he mail, or something--- not like something I had intentionally worn indoors! The smoking cap's ideal! It's also a good bit like Dumbledore's "casual cap," (which I'd also considered; rejecting it because it was made too small for me!) but less "ornate." The Vintage Quilted Smoking Cap also special in that the "XL" version fits me; and I usually take a 7-7/8 or "XXL" hat or cap! I like the Harry Potter series; but being in my 60s, it behooves me to avoid dressing exactly like Dumbledore! (Yea, sure; the kids & grand-kids would love it, but it might cause talk!) So I split the difference, buying a cap that only slightly resembles a "wizard's cap." I'm happy, the kids are happy, and the rest can hop it! However--- I hope that the Historical Emporium has an ample supply of these, as they're great for "customizing" into fancier versions with glued-on trim & piping, braid & brooches, for the costumes of "Dumbledore Wannabes!" During this past summer, I was fortunate enough to work as an actor on season 2 of the hit Taylor Sheridan TV show 1923. Wardrobe had put me a period 3-piece wool suit and topped it off with a brown Derby/ Bowler hat. My wife saw the wardrobe picture and commented on how good it looked on me, then for my recent birthday, bought this Derby for me. This hat is very well made and has a nice flair to it. I was searching for a straw top hat, like you do, and really lucked out finding Historical Emporium.

The straw is tightly and finely hand woven Panama Hat from Ecuador. The price is very reasonable. I have a Panama Fedora for which I paid over $200 six years ago and this is comparable in quality. I'll be using it for my musical stage performances in Columbia, CA this next month and for years to come. For the hot weather you can't beat a Panama. With moderate care, they last forever. I wanted a topper that was a little lower in height and this fits the bill perfectly. I really like this hat!

This is a fantastic style and material of hat. I used to own this exact one several years ago but wore it out. I’m very happy to have bought it again. As with all new hats it’s very stiff and hard all over. So use it a lot to get a well used comfortable feeling later on.

Decided to snag it as a good hat for slightly colder weather, not only is comfortable and simple but was able to add a nice band to the crown myself with minimal effort.

Nice looking western hat. Bought big size and adjust it down with the internal adjustment. Big size allows scarves and hoods in winter. Bought for naturalist role at Colorado State Park, but like the hat so much will probably use it as my main hiking hat.
