Love it! Quality of the fabric and styling are excellent! Great crossover piece with a classy touch for my favorite looks -- can go from formal to casual depending what it's combined with. Something I can wear to work, church, and downtown. The rounded bottom hem works nicely for displaying a fancy belt buckle. The Large size is slightly big for my 44" chest, but the adjustable buckle in the back makes it work, sizing is comfortable without buttons straining. Love the four front pockets, plenty of options for storage. The color is better described as brown/black, not brown/navy. The darker stripe is a soft black, not a blue tone. Love the brown/black stripe as it is, coordinates with more of my shirts/pants/jackets than the brown/navy would. The vertical stripes give a subtle slimming look.

I intend to wear the vest in several upcoming event as a living historian

Bought this and the matching Ferndale Striped spats to complete my patent medicine salesman 'living history' persona and am 1000% pleased with the fit and appearance. Both items look great in the website photos but are even more impressive in person. Really liked the higher neckline on this vest and the 4 pockets in front are perfect for everything from my pocket watch to a small bottle of 'cure all'. I ordered the whole suit; Frock coat, pants, vest and spats. Great quality. I'm 6'2" 215lbs and the XLs are a little on the large size, but I'll be getting them tailored. Not sure if the large would have done it, so not a big issue. LOOKS GREAT. Good weight to the fabric.

This is really one good looking vest! I have quite a few of your vests and am delighted with all of them. I'm a very big vest fan; don't consider myself fully dressed without one. This is the first striped vest I've bought and it certainly won't be the last. Congrats for a terrific product!

Seems great. Haven't tried to wash/clean it yet but the quality is nice. Trust the tape measure. I couldn't bring myself to order a size large as 100% of my wardrobe is XL. Ended up having to exchange it. I think I could have even fit a medium. Trust the tape measure procedure they give you. Also, go a size up on the pants as suggested. The Ferndale combo looks pretty sweet.

Vest was a little snug..... should have ordered the next size up. But it still looks AWESOME!!!! Love the way it looks... especially over a black shirt. Had to call customer service cause the pockets were 3/4 sewn up... did not know the maker did that for shipping purpose and they told me just to snip the thread.... and behold a full pocket.

The Vest fit nicely even under the coat and looked really sharp over the shirt.

This vest was just what I had been looking for. I am glad I stumbled upon their website ( Very nice site, I might add) a quick transaction and delivery within a week, I will agree with another reviewer to order up one size, this vest runs a little small. I sent mine back and they replaced it with the larger size , they had it back to me in no time!

I had previously ordered another Klondike Vest (Red) and it fit according to the size specified. The silver one seemed to run small so I have returned it for an exchange of a larger size. The color and fabric were as stated. I truly am enjoying the first one I ordered so I am looking forward to receiving the new one.

This vest looked sharp, and fit very well. Ordered a XLT, and was grateful for the nice selection of Tall sizes.

Pros-Beautiful pattern design for vest. Nice Weight. Made Well. Cons-Not true to measurement. Husband is 48", Vest measured 2" smaller. If you are long waisted you may want to consider the item in a Tall. Returned and will order a size larger in a Tall.

Bought this striped vest for a Night Circus themed party so everyone needed to wear black and white with a shock of red. This is the best vest I found over the entire internet to fit what I was looking for and the price is good. The product arrived very quickly and I was impressed with the quality for what I paid. Probably the nicest vest that I've bought from HE (so far). Beautiful fabric and the buttons are metal (brass, I think, compared to another vest which has fabric-covered plastic buttons). Fits well, a bit on the generous side which is fine.

Top notch vest! Looks great as indian wars era cowboy action gettup. Quality product very well made. Looks so good I'm wearing it on sundays also. I wear XL in canvas vests to fit shoulders then they fit my belly loose, but the cut on this vest is perfect.

So much more than I expected! I thought my other Frontier Classics vests from Historical Emporium were tops, but this one stands out. Large vests are to snug on my belly, extra larges is what I wear with the adjustment belt in back snugged up some, but the Buchanan vest is just right in extra large. Smooth fit and looks great as an Indian wars era cowboy action getup. This vest will also see action on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings.

This vest is definitely a surprise, and a pleasant one at that. There is just enough wool in the fabric to give it the proper feel. The fact that it is self backed makes it perfect for use without any type of jacket or coat. On top of that it is decidedly comfortable to wear! I purchased this with one very specific use in mind, which required the stand up collar, and Navy Blue was exactly what was needed for the Tartan it was to be worn with. But now that I have it, I'm finding that it works quite well in many other ways. It will be seeing a great deal of use year round. This is definitely worth the extra bit of time that a special order requires.

The material feels substantial and is really high quality but it is not too hot despite it's thickness. I wore it with a puff tie and dress shirt in low 80s for pictures and while officiating a wedding near Jackson and it was very comfortable the whole time. The unique look and metal buttons get a lot of compliments and the double breasted style looks formal even without a jacket. I am 5'11", 165 and the regular M fit very well. The length is longer than the average vest which really helps it to look great without a jacket.

Bought this with the possibility of sending it back if it wasn't a quality item. When I received it I was impressed with the delivery packaging and the quality of the vest. The workmanship was very good, it was very comfortable and the sizing was great. I ordered a 'Tall' as I like a longer vest and it worked perfectly for me.

This waistcoat is nothing short of magnificent. I've wanted a white waistcoat for years, and now I have one. One of the amazing things about it it is that the white-on-white brocade has colour-shifting properties that can make the brocade look a pale shade of glacier-blue in the right light. A masterwork.

Oddly, I bought this to work on the parts of an outfit to be a Scottish Santa Claus. The vest is perfect! I've worn in twice with jeans and a solid color shirt. I have wanted this beautiful Rathbone vest from Historical Emporium for a long time, and finally purchased it. It fits and looks great, like everything I have from this wonderful company. It is part of their gray herringbone series, which I have been collecting. I have my eye on a few more wonderful garments from this collection. Highly recommended.

I recently purchased the Grey Herringbone Vest, complete with the Norfolk Jacket and matching trousers. What a great outfit! My arms are just slightly too short for the jacket, but the rest of it fit really well. I can't wait for slightly cooler weather so I can step out in all of it, either for the museum work that I do here in Toronto, Canada, or just for a regular occasion to catch attention. I've bought a lot from Historical Emporium in the past year, and have enjoyed all of it.

I have always had trouble finding a vest that is long enough, and Historical Emporium has what I need. This vest is long, and I didn't even get the tall version. Also, I like this material blend - it looks like wool, and that is the point. The herringbone pattern adds to the effect. All in all, a fine vest to wear to the opera.

Readers; Here is a review from a retired Historical Tailor who has made MANY vest &tc for this, and other, eras, so let wisdom guide your judgement of my Review. NOW! A bit of use of the vest background. I wished a vest to go with my green/grey smooth tweed kilt coat I recently bought. A vest for a kilt must be cut with square fronts, and not points. It is better if its a bit longer than the common lot of vests. So, I studied ALL the vests on the H.E. site and settled on the "Rathbone Vest". It came in good time. I scampered into my bedroom, changed into my kilt, and tried on the vest. Now begins the review of the Item. The length is perfect for a kilt. The material is very good quality(I am also a weaver)and well made. The vest has the TRUE double breasted fashion! Both sets of buttons have holes, so that it can button to either side. Very High Marks for that. Near all double breasted vest/coats Do Not have this historically correct feature. The armscrye {i.e. the hole for your arm to pass thru the vest- is made a bit more open than the originals, but its acceptable for an 'off the rack' reproduction. The all important neck line was made aright. There is no gap between the shirt collar and the vest collar. A vest, made right, shares the same cut of the collar line that the shirt has. The lapels are cut with understanding, and lay well and EVEN, left to right. The vest reveal[the part left open above the last button] is correct for the era. Pockets well...

Excellent quality and fit. The pockets are deep and can accommodate a nice sized pocket watch. It goes down farther over the waist than some of the other styles, fully covering the belt, and the collar is slightly higher. I have bought several vests from these folks and they have all been excellent, but this one looks like it is going to be a favorite.

The material is high quality, the color is true and represented well by the photos, and the fit was as described. I was surprised by the quality and how well made it was. Shipping was quick. This is an amazing looking vest. The collar will be better if you have a longer neck. I originally ordered a 3x, but had to exchange it for a 2x. Customer service was fantastic. The exchange was made way quicker than I anticipated due to the current Covid crisis. Always a pleasure to shop with HE.

I've wanted a green waistcoat for the holidays and St. Patrick's day and I finally purchased this one. I love it! The high collar gives it a little oriental look. It's a little longer than usual waistcoats, which I like. If I wear a belt, it's hidden nicely with this. The fabric is beautiful and it's fairly lightweight so I'll be wearing it in the spring as well.
