Was concerned about quality as I had never ordered from them before. No need, very high quality and very happy with the look.

I have several of these vests from Historical Emporium. I wear them at casual business events, travelling, etc. With a white shirt (some period/historical; black slacks, boots) o look smart but a bit unconventional (I'm in IT :). The vests are lightweight, fit nicely (I leave them unbuttoned). I'm 6', but thin/lean build (28" waist) so small works. They wear well; some are 7+ years old, only fraying a bit. With the collection I have its a great wardrobe

Excellent fit! Bought the whole suit. Had the trousers hemmed and cuffed by a local tailor, very happy with it all. coat and vest are perfect fits. Good material, wish it would be just a slight bit thicker but overall pleased. Finally a nice suit!

Classic car event

After much searching I found the perfect vest here. Fits well and is very well made. I gave gotten several vests from other places, and that is not the case. I couldn't have asked for better than I got here. And I will definately order a couple more!

My second vest of this style (outgrew the first, it's still in good shape). Quality of everything I have bought from Historical Emporium is excellent. After ordering I learned I would need it earlier than expected and standard shipping might not work. I called customer service to see if I could upgrade to expedited shipping. Customer Service looked up my order and assured me it would arrive on time with standard shipping, in fact it arrived a day earlier than expected. They could have charged me the extra shipping fee and I would have never known the difference. It is so nice to do business with an honest company that offers great products.

Love this vest. It's been hard for me to find a vest that will fit. I'm 5'9" and wear a 2xlt shirt due to having a bit longer torso. I just wish it was available in more colors..I wear it to church and any occasion that calls for a more formal attire...

Made just a little big width. I will have to take it for alteration. It is a nice authentic vest for any occasion.

The lighter weight but woolen mix makes for a good semi-formal wear. Added a modern point collar shirt with a tie and collar clip for a routine bread and butter outfit. Cut and collar were perfect.

I tend to grit my teeth if I have to spend more than $50 for a vest, but I've got to admit it's very well made. Quality material and stitching. So much so, that after I received the double breasted herringbone vest, I was so impressed with it that I bought the single breasted herringbone vest as well.

Its pretty dark for being "gray". I do like the metallic buttons and the quality overall is very nice, but should be considering its 3x the $ of every other vest I looked at. Biggest complaint and very disappointed that the backing was a black linen material, fairly thick and heavy which made it very hot. All the pictures showed a light gray backing which was highly desired to match with the rest of the wedding attire. Unfortunate.

I bought this vest after being less than impressed with my 'old fashioned' vest from another retailer. I absolutely love this vest! It has a full cotton, tan back to it. The cut is great. Going for a bit of a settler look for my wedding on my side, and this one helped me hit the mark. Strong recommendation for the look and quality.

The last night of a planned overseas vacation, we will be celebrating our anniversary at a fairly posh restaurant in London. They absolutely require men in long sleeves and would like a tie and jacket. Not wanting to lug a jacket all over England, I purchased this herringbone vest for him. With dress pants and a bold tie, the vest turns from Old West to English Country Gentleman. We are pleased with the construction and the color.

There are times when my Harris Tweed sport coat is too heavy. This fits the occasion perfectly. Very classy.

I am a pastor and occasionally I have an opportunity to do a service that requires a vintage Parsons outfit. I'm going to be speaking at the 100th anniversary of the Easter sunrise service at a famous rock in my city that has been used by traveling preachers since 1837. My other vest was getting a little too tight so I needed a bigger one.

Very good canvas material and well stitched... Seems durable. I use the items that I buy from Historical Emporium for everyday wear and having access to canvas pants and vests at reasonable prices is very nice. Shipping is fast and customer service is THE best I have delt with lately.... I cannot express how happy I am overall with Customer Service for Historical Emporium. The only small drawback is that sometimes the sizes I want are out of stock at the time I want to order. I have checked back at a later date and been able to find the sizes I want, so I would advise others to be patient and check back.

I first discovered Historical Emporium a few years ago when I wanted a special look for my daughter's wedding. This latest purchase is just for an old time look with no special occasion in mind. The vest is very nice and true to size. I wasn't crazy about the fabric covered buttons, but I was able to change them out for some nice vintage style antique silver buttons.

Our grand daughter has chosen the theme of late Victorian for her wedding. Her colors are red and Gold. The first coat, shirt and pants that I ordered were too big and I needed to return them for the next smaller size. The exchange was accomplished within 5 days. A company rep. was very helpful when I called about the problem. The replacement garments are a good fit although I will need a small alteration to the vest because my middle is larger than my chest. This is a beautiful vest with nice lines. I have not worn it as often as I planned because both welt pockets are stitched in the middle, and though the description suggests they would hold a watch, the remaining gap is too small. Since a fob watch is a common accessory for such a vest, this was disappointing. The vest is otherwise very good. Editor's note: Pockets are sewn shut for transit and can be fully opened with a seam ripper upon receipt.

I purchased the vest for my husband for Christmas. He loves the covered buttons. He plays the guitar, and was impressed by the covered buttons because they will not scratch his guitar. He loves the color and cut of the vest. And it looks great on him!!

No occasion. Just thought I would start gathering my western attire. I wore to church and everyone really like it. The only problem I have is that, I measured wrong and I chose my usual size(XL, when I should had chosen 2XL). It doesn't go over my belly, but that's ok, because I can wear it unbuttoned. The bow tie fits great. I want to build a complete western outfit, but I'll have to do it one piece at a time. I would like to get a pair of cowboy boots next or maybe a couple of shirts(Bib styles). Then, I'll work on getting a couple pairs of pants. At least, that's the plan. I'm very happy and glad I found this store. I check this site often and add items to my wish list. Keep up the good work.

This vest is spot on. Had to workout an exchange because I needed a tall - MEASURE THE LENGTH! You'll save yourself the trouble. Once I got this vest though I was sold. The quality is great. Nice solid canvas with a beautiful texture. It's already starting to soften and bend more easily with some wear. The buttons and back strap are all super solid. I reccomend this to anyone who loves wearing blue jeans casual, I knew how good this thing is going to look, just as soon as I saw, and touched it, I haven't seen much of any other clothing offered anywhere else this good. I really like this vest and plan to use it when the weather warms and stays warm to complete my casual/dress up look. Either with jeans and a casual shirt or with a dress shirt, tie and dress slacks.

My usual style is Western wear, but hard to find quality inTall sizes. When I checked some shirts offered by Historical Emporium, the ones I liked didn't come in a Tall size, so I emailed to complain.They said they do offer some in Tall, so I looked again and found this gem of a vest. I wear it when I'm working in the warehouse and I want a good looking way to protect my shirt, looks great I like it.

I am 6'1" medium build. I ordered the XL Tall. Fits perfectly. Good that it has an adjustment buckle in the back as I am slim waisted and cinched it up so it has a nice tapered look. My vest was made in Guatemala, so I am good enough with that. USA would be better, but what are ya gonna do?

I've a wardrobe for my reenactments and speaking on my war between the states persona. After being invited to participate in a Wild West event I needed a few items to adjust the look. My other vests are coat and tie ones, I needed a working man's look, this is exactly what I wanted and needed. The event isn't until the end of October and I'll be submitting photos then.

This is a sturdy well made garment. It is great for working around the property when a jacket is to much and a sweater is too delicate for the job at hand. Size seems to run a wee bit small, but may loosen up after some wear and a wash.

I'm a big guy... 6'3" with a couple of extra pounds, so every time I order a vest it's a gamble of whether it will be wide and short, or baggy and too long, etc etc. This vest was not only a perfect fit (shoulders, chest, waist and length), but the quality was apparent and I'm VERY happy with it. I most recently had the opportunity to attend a “Black Tie Chic” event. I did not want to purchase an entire tuxedo- what do to? I turned to the myriad of shirts and vests at Historical Emporium to put together a “look”. To include the Tuxedo-look of the Sinclair Edwardian Club Collar Shirt and Gold Klondike Vest. Well let me tell you I looked sensational- some folks came up to me and said I looked dapper. I was worried about size but the vest xxl fit fine- I did have a bit of a problem with the vest - one of the metal buttons was not sealed closed properly in the back - it had a very sharp metal opening- which actually when I put on the vest - sliced through the thread of the back of the button- within seconds- button was on floor. I have thought of sending back vest- but will try to send to a tailor to try to repair. Otherwise- vest was as advertised- great fit. Bottom line - I will definitely be a repeat customer. Thank you.

It is difficult to find vests that fit my husband properly; I picked him up the 3XT version of this vest and it fits him well. It is beautiful and amazing.

I have wanted this beautiful Rathbone vest from Historical Emporium for a long time, and finally purchased it. It fits and looks great, like everything I have from this wonderful company. It is part of their gray herringbone series, which I have been collecting. I have my eye on a few more wonderful garments from this collection. Highly recommended.

I recently purchased the Grey Herringbone Vest, complete with the Norfolk Jacket and matching trousers. What a great outfit! My arms are just slightly too short for the jacket, but the rest of it fit really well. I can't wait for slightly cooler weather so I can step out in all of it, either for the museum work that I do here in Toronto, Canada, or just for a regular occasion to catch attention. I've bought a lot from Historical Emporium in the past year, and have enjoyed all of it.

I have always had trouble finding a vest that is long enough, and Historical Emporium has what I need. This vest is long, and I didn't even get the tall version. Also, I like this material blend - it looks like wool, and that is the point. The herringbone pattern adds to the effect. All in all, a fine vest to wear to the opera.

Readers; Here is a review from a retired Historical Tailor who has made MANY vest &tc for this, and other, eras, so let wisdom guide your judgement of my Review. NOW! A bit of use of the vest background. I wished a vest to go with my green/grey smooth tweed kilt coat I recently bought. A vest for a kilt must be cut with square fronts, and not points. It is better if its a bit longer than the common lot of vests. So, I studied ALL the vests on the H.E. site and settled on the "Rathbone Vest". It came in good time. I scampered into my bedroom, changed into my kilt, and tried on the vest. Now begins the review of the Item. The length is perfect for a kilt. The material is very good quality(I am also a weaver)and well made. The vest has the TRUE double breasted fashion! Both sets of buttons have holes, so that it can button to either side. Very High Marks for that. Near all double breasted vest/coats Do Not have this historically correct feature. The armscrye {i.e. the hole for your arm to pass thru the vest- is made a bit more open than the originals, but its acceptable for an 'off the rack' reproduction. The all important neck line was made aright. There is no gap between the shirt collar and the vest collar. A vest, made right, shares the same cut of the collar line that the shirt has. The lapels are cut with understanding, and lay well and EVEN, left to right. The vest reveal[the part left open above the last button] is correct for the era. Pockets well...

Excellent quality and fit. The pockets are deep and can accommodate a nice sized pocket watch. It goes down farther over the waist than some of the other styles, fully covering the belt, and the collar is slightly higher. I have bought several vests from these folks and they have all been excellent, but this one looks like it is going to be a favorite.
