Vest was a little snug..... should have ordered the next size up. But it still looks AWESOME!!!! Love the way it looks... especially over a black shirt. Had to call customer service cause the pockets were 3/4 sewn up... did not know the maker did that for shipping purpose and they told me just to snip the thread.... and behold a full pocket.

The Vest fit nicely even under the coat and looked really sharp over the shirt.

I am glad I stumbled upon their website ( Very nice site, I might add) a quick transaction and delivery within a week, I will agree with another reviewer to order up one size, this vest runs a little small. I sent mine back and they replaced it with the larger size , they had it back to me in no time!

I had previously ordered another Klondike Vest (Red) and it fit according to the size specified. The silver one seemed to run small so I have returned it for an exchange of a larger size. The color and fabric were as stated. I truly am enjoying the first one I ordered so I am looking forward to receiving the new one.

This vest looked sharp, and fit very well. Ordered a XLT, and was grateful for the nice selection of Tall sizes.

Pros-Beautiful pattern design for vest. Nice Weight. Made Well. Cons-Not true to measurement. Husband is 48", Vest measured 2" smaller. If you are long waisted you may want to consider the item in a Tall. Returned and will order a size larger in a Tall.

The material feels substantial and is really high quality but it is not too hot despite it's thickness. I wore it with a puff tie and dress shirt in low 80s for pictures and while officiating a wedding near Jackson and it was very comfortable the whole time. The unique look and metal buttons get a lot of compliments and the double breasted style looks formal even without a jacket. I am 5'11", 165 and the regular M fit very well. The length is longer than the average vest which really helps it to look great without a jacket.

Bought this with the possibility of sending it back if it wasn't a quality item. When I received it I was impressed with the delivery packaging and the quality of the vest. The workmanship was very good, it was very comfortable and the sizing was great. I ordered a 'Tall' as I like a longer vest and it worked perfectly for me.

I have wanted this beautiful Rathbone vest from Historical Emporium for a long time, and finally purchased it. It fits and looks great, like everything I have from this wonderful company. It is part of their gray herringbone series, which I have been collecting. I have my eye on a few more wonderful garments from this collection. Highly recommended.

I recently purchased the Grey Herringbone Vest, complete with the Norfolk Jacket and matching trousers. What a great outfit! My arms are just slightly too short for the jacket, but the rest of it fit really well. I can't wait for slightly cooler weather so I can step out in all of it, either for the museum work that I do here in Toronto, Canada, or just for a regular occasion to catch attention. I've bought a lot from Historical Emporium in the past year, and have enjoyed all of it.

I have always had trouble finding a vest that is long enough, and Historical Emporium has what I need. This vest is long, and I didn't even get the tall version. Also, I like this material blend - it looks like wool, and that is the point. The herringbone pattern adds to the effect. All in all, a fine vest to wear to the opera.

Readers; Here is a review from a retired Historical Tailor who has made MANY vest &tc for this, and other, eras, so let wisdom guide your judgement of my Review. NOW! A bit of use of the vest background. I wished a vest to go with my green/grey smooth tweed kilt coat I recently bought. A vest for a kilt must be cut with square fronts, and not points. It is better if its a bit longer than the common lot of vests. So, I studied ALL the vests on the H.E. site and settled on the "Rathbone Vest". It came in good time. I scampered into my bedroom, changed into my kilt, and tried on the vest. Now begins the review of the Item. The length is perfect for a kilt. The material is very good quality(I am also a weaver)and well made. The vest has the TRUE double breasted fashion! Both sets of buttons have holes, so that it can button to either side. Very High Marks for that. Near all double breasted vest/coats Do Not have this historically correct feature. The armscrye {i.e. the hole for your arm to pass thru the vest- is made a bit more open than the originals, but its acceptable for an 'off the rack' reproduction. The all important neck line was made aright. There is no gap between the shirt collar and the vest collar. A vest, made right, shares the same cut of the collar line that the shirt has. The lapels are cut with understanding, and lay well and EVEN, left to right. The vest reveal[the part left open above the last button] is correct for the era. Pockets well...

Excellent quality and fit. The pockets are deep and can accommodate a nice sized pocket watch. It goes down farther over the waist than some of the other styles, fully covering the belt, and the collar is slightly higher. I have bought several vests from these folks and they have all been excellent, but this one looks like it is going to be a favorite.

I have several of these vests from Historical Emporium. I wear them at casual business events, travelling, etc. With a white shirt (some period/historical; black slacks, boots) o look smart but a bit unconventional (I'm in IT :). The vests are lightweight, fit nicely (I leave them unbuttoned). I'm 6', but thin/lean build (28" waist) so small works. They wear well; some are 7+ years old, only fraying a bit. With the collection I have its a great wardrobe

I'm a tall guy and a big guy , and have always had problems finding vests that I am comfortable in and that even look like they fit. They almost always feel to short in length and there is always too much space between the bottom of the vest and the waist of my pants . I bought this vest in the 3XT , and even though they were a special order and took a few days longer to get , when it arrived it fit PERFECTLY .

I bought this vest after being less than impressed with my 'old fashioned' vest from another retailer. I absolutely love this vest! It has a full cotton, tan back to it. The cut is great. Going for a bit of a settler look for my wedding on my side, and this one helped me hit the mark. Strong recommendation for the look and quality.

The last night of a planned overseas vacation, we will be celebrating our anniversary at a fairly posh restaurant in London. They absolutely require men in long sleeves and would like a tie and jacket. Not wanting to lug a jacket all over England, I purchased this herringbone vest for him. With dress pants and a bold tie, the vest turns from Old West to English Country Gentleman. We are pleased with the construction and the color.

There are times when my Harris Tweed sport coat is too heavy. This fits the occasion perfectly. Very classy.

I bought this vest for a wedding I'm going to in October. The vest is beautiful and so well made, I could have gotten a size smaller but the fit is fine, I was afraid It would be to small because of other vests I bought on line and had to return them because the sizes they sent were way to small.

We wanted to love this vest because the paisley print teal matched wonderfully with my teal wedding dress, High quality, beautiful material, well made, but the lapels did not suit the groom. We will be returning this item but not becasues of quality or price. Delivery by the way was speedy too.

I got this vest to liven up my boring grey suit, to get married in. It matched my wife's dress, and I got a lot of compliments on how I looked. I was worried that the vest's lapels would overlap my shirt collar, but they fit together like a dream. I wore my grandfather's pocket watch in my vest pocket, attaching the chain to the top vest button, and people loved how it looked. I am a pastor and occasionally I have an opportunity to do a service that requires a vintage Parsons outfit. I'm going to be speaking at the 100th anniversary of the Easter sunrise service at a famous rock in my city that has been used by traveling preachers since 1837. My other vest was getting a little too tight so I needed a bigger one.

I wear that vest two or three times a week. The upper pocket is for my monocle.

No occasion. Just thought I would start gathering my western attire. I wore to church and everyone really like it. The only problem I have is that, I measured wrong and I chose my usual size(XL, when I should had chosen 2XL). It doesn't go over my belly, but that's ok, because I can wear it unbuttoned. The bow tie fits great. I want to build a complete western outfit, but I'll have to do it one piece at a time. I would like to get a pair of cowboy boots next or maybe a couple of shirts(Bib styles). Then, I'll work on getting a couple pairs of pants. At least, that's the plan. I'm very happy and glad I found this store. I check this site often and add items to my wish list. Keep up the good work.

This vest is spot on. Had to workout an exchange because I needed a tall - MEASURE THE LENGTH! You'll save yourself the trouble. Once I got this vest though I was sold. The quality is great. Nice solid canvas with a beautiful texture. It's already starting to soften and bend more easily with some wear. The buttons and back strap are all super solid. It's just super well constructed, great fabric quality, excellent fit. I'll be back for more. This is exactly what I was looking for. Great quality at a great price. Thanks!!

Great looking vestments, I am sure glad I found these!. I reccomend this to anyone who loves wearing blue jeans casual, I knew how good this thing is going to look, just as soon as I saw, and touched it, I haven't seen much of any other clothing offered anywhere else this good. I really like this vest and plan to use it when the weather warms and stays warm to complete my casual/dress up look. Either with jeans and a casual shirt or with a dress shirt, tie and dress slacks.

The vest looks great, of course. It's a bit tight around the middle; I had trouble buttoning it when I wore period high-waisted pants with it, but with modern pants it fit just fine. The fabric-covered buttons are hard to handle, though; I may replace them with metal buttons.

I love this vest. the fit is perfect, great colors. Highly recommend. Upon arrival the vest smelled like fish and to be taken to the dry cleaner. An added expense before getting to enjoy the product. My son's entire wedding party dressed in the Klondike Vest. The vest fits nicely, is a beautiful brocade in deep brown, and is a lightweight fabric for comfort on the dance floor. If any of your groomsmen are taller than 5'8" I recommend getting the large tall for a picture perfect fit. Bought several items. 2 vest, 2 pair of pants, 2 shirts, 2 pairs of boots along with several other items. All fit exactly as expected. The Midnight Hour Vest was much larger than the other vest. But the quality was great. Please note that you will have to send it back at your own cost. It cost me $14.00 just to ship it back and then Historical Emporium will charge you shipping again to get your replacement.

The pictures do not do this vest justice. The pattern looks like swirling ink in a midnight sky.

Ordered this vest because I'm 6'4" tall, 275 lbs, with a 53" chest and this was one of the few places where big and tall guys can find dress clothes in 3XLT and up. The product is exactly as advertised, a real dark black, sturdy material with a very detailed, nice pattern that looks awesome in neon lights. The material on the back is also black, and has vertical lines in it. The buttons feel a bit loose after two uses, especially the bottom one, but it is normal wear and tear and there is an extra one included. The sizing is a bit big, and I know I'm not the first person to comment on that here. I learned that by reading these reviews, too. Like I said, I'm a big guy and it is hard for them to know if you need a 3XLT because you're a broad, muscular guy, or because you're built like Jabba the Hut, so plan on a 3XL being a bit roomy, especially around the arms. It fit great across the chest, but was obviously designed for someone with a bit more fluff to them than I have. Even so, the vest looks great, and if I want it tightened up a bit, it's nothing my local seamstress can't knock out in a jiffy. Happily, if you have any other problems, the customer service for this site is awesome, so you should be able to clear anything up with ease. Not a bad experience, and I will be a return customer the next time I need nice formal wear.

I am very pleased with the appearance and quality of this vest. Its appearance changes slightly as the light catches the paisley pattern, , adding the subtle touch I was looking for without color. My measurements fell right between the L and XL breakpoint, and I ended up going with XL. It seems quite roomy on me, so the sizing does not appear to run small. It looks great under my cutaway coat!

I purchased this vest recently because I was looking for a dark charcoal vest. The color of the vest in these pictures and the color of the vest I received are a little further apart than I expected. To my eyes the pictured vest is a dark grey, the vest I received is clearly BLACK. Nevertheless, it is a very well made vest. The fit is perfect and it looks damn good with a puff tie.

I bought this vest as something to wear on stage when I perform so it's "costuming" but it's not costumey. I wear it with a modern, slim-fit formal shirt with french cuffs and it has earned me compliments every time I've worn it. When next I'm flush, I'll be getting a bunch of other Historical Emporium vests -- I think this one comes in blue . . . maybe in black and silver. I suspect they'll all work just as well for me.
