This coat is amazingly crafted and will go with so many outfits.

My only complaint is that I wish that the sleeves were tapered or there was a cuff strap, but otherwise, a wonderful fit, and high quality.

It is always nice to find "exotic" costumes that fit the typically larger American. Not only that, but it is not a cheap looking lab coat. It wears well, and seems to be professionally built. Comfortably thin, but not THAT thin. This is not a cheaply made costume. The Mad Doctor is IN!

There's always a risk involved when ordering stuff online, and even if the item description isn't totally misleading, it still doesn't give a good idea of what you're actually ordering. Basically, you get a (brown in my case) lab coat made of cotton. However, the material is somewhat thin and drapes the body more like an hospital gown than an actual coat. The picture used to depict the product is, to my eye, somewhat misleading as the material appears to be sturdy like if it was thick cotton. I'm actually comparing the picture and my coat and they don't look the same. I was planning to use this coat for a mad scientist costume but I'll need to add an apron or some kind of accessory if I don't want to look too ridiculous (i.e. like an hospital patient with a brown gown and weird goggles). Consequently, the $75 price tag is pricey for what you get. I must say though that shipping was pretty fast and Historical Emporium customer service was impeccable. In the end, my 2 stars rating is based on this: -1 star for the misleading picture, -1 star for the hefty price (for what you actually get) and -1 star for the cheap material.

Well made, sizing was good, nice fit and finish, heavy cotton similar to demim weight so should be pretty durable, would have been nice if it was lined, but I suppose that would cost more. Only reason did not give 5 stars is the adjuster strap in the back, it seems to have been added in as more of an afterthought, kinda basic.

I purchased this coat for a Plague Doctor costume that I put together, The coat is a little on the slim side but worked out great for me, I am 6ft 195lbs. I waxed the canvas to give it a stiff and aged look with melted paraffin and beeswax. I really like this coat and can't wait to find another excuse to use it.

This garment has a great look to it. The fabric is light and breathable. The sizing was spot on. The buttons are a litle difficult to use without a mirror, due to location. The lab coat has no pockets. Perhaps that is by design, and historically accurate. Still, I would prefer it to have two side pockets (not front pockets). It opens at the waist easily enough to allow access to any pants pockets worn underneath. The sleeves are quite large. When paired with large gloves or gauntlets, they are manageable. Without gauntlets, the sleeves get in the way when trying to do just about everything (unless you have long arms). Overall, this is a great purchase.

We have a Halloween event for employees and their families every year. This year needed a spectacular Dr Frankenstein. This lab coat made it just that - spectacular! So much better than the other junk you find out there. The quality is fantastic! The look is perfect! Sizing is a bit tough to fit everyone, but works just fine for me although a little snug in the middle (probably my problem more than the item). Better suited for the mad scientist who gets to the gym regularly, instead of staying at the lab doing research. So if you keep ahead of the monsters by jogging - perfect!

This is not the first one of these I've bought. The ones I have for myself have held up over several years of occasional use. This was for my niece's "white coat" ceremony, now that she has proven herself in the family ranks of super geniuses.

I am 5’7”, 195lbs. I ordered the med/lrg. It is big. I knew it would be long after reading the reviews and expect it to be loose but it is BIG. I feel like a child in my dad’s shirt. I’ll attempt to talk my partner into some alterations for a better fit. All that said, this is a nice lab coat. Heavy fabric, much better than a costume piece. It does have a chemical/plastic smell, I believe from packaging or storage. If adequate measurement were added I’d give this 5 stars. Overall nice product.

I decided on a mad scientist costume for our Halloween party, but was disappointed with the quality of the costumes I found. I risked spending a little more on this lab coat and was very pleased with the material and construction. This was my first order from Historical Emporium, but unlikely to be my last.

This coat was a little big on me and required some refitting on the edges, even after ordering a small. If you are also a small guy, make sure to consider that. It looked great and was perfect for halloween and will be used for many years!

6'2" and 220 lbs here. The Medium/Large fit really nice except for some short sleeves. Cosplay has gloves so this is actually a plus. The XL/2X fit like a circus tent - definitely for a plus size fella or someone who wants to do their own tailoring. Everything else is as expected. Super thick fabric.

My chemistry students loved me in this lab coat! One of the school colors was red and this made a really bold statement!

I am very pleased with the quality of this coat. The cotton fabric is very substantial without being bulky or uncomfortable. It is well constructed and I know I will be able to wear it for many years. The only thing I would change is the number of button holes on the adjustable tabs on the back of the coat. There are two buttons but only one button hole. I would love to see 3 or 4 button holes to allow for more adjustments. I ordered the 3XL and it is very roomy which I like, and again I would like the ability to have more adjustments to the back. I paired this with a red top hat, black gloves and a glowing jar around my neck. I got so many compliments at the Edwardian themed party I attended. Red always makes a statement.

For only needing this as a costume it kept me warm while running around. I went with a size larger than recommended and it fits me perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to do a Dr. Horrible cosplay or even a mad scientist costume.

This is a real garment, not a cheap costume. It buttons up all the way and the size and sleeves fit just right. The red color is great.

This does look great, but please note it is quite warm if you plan to wear it indoors, you need to watch you do not get overheated since it does button up to the neck.

The labcoat is incredible. I know it will be able to take a lot of abuse and last. I cant wait to get another one in black, which is what I originally wanted. However, the red is an amazing color and i am glad i got it.

It is hard to tell the quality with just a picture but this item is indeed well made, I am a big guy so I ordered the XL/2XL and when I received it and trued it on it fit perfectly. The material is a nice weight not light like some cheaper versions very durable. It was a little more then I wanted to pay but it is worth the price, I am very happy with this item

I ordered this for myself for a dr horrible costume. Since I am a 5'8 female this came to the floor. I had to make some alterations to make it work for my needs. The quality is great, decent fabric. Not thin and flimsy at all. I'd recommend this item to anyone looking for a lab coat to use for any reason!

I purchased this for myself for a Dr. Horrible cosplay. It fit a bit bigger than expected, but I am a female instead of male. Nothing a little sewing can't fix. I wore this at Alamo City Comic Con with a tank top and shorts underneath, since it was long enough you didn't need to see the pants and was quite comfortable.

Costume lab coat. Good fabric, decent construction. Cut very generously- full in the waist (there is a belt in the back to take in some of the fullness) and the sleeves are straight cut and wide at the cuffs. Standing collar is rather tall and has some body to it so it won't quickly roll or collapse. A very good costume piece , large enough to wear over a sweater or jacket, which has much possibility to be tailored for a better fit

Definitely Measure Yourself Instead of Assuming! I'm a shorter, curvier person who likes a bit of wiggle room in my clothes. I've been wanting this for ages, and when I finally got it I ordered the wrong size not once, but twice! Why? Because I'm used to always getting a 3x/4x , and then the 3x was too big, so I went to med/large, which was just a barely too small to close! And finally, I got the perfect size (XL/2X), which fits PERFECTLY. I can now live my stylish mad scientist dreams, and look absolutely amazing doing so. This labcoat looks nice on the body, making a great silhouette, and makes the user -- or me, in this case -- feel confident. It's amazing quality, too!

You tired of the back and forth with amazon. Poor quality, runing late, and lack of durability. These is the answer. It has a great thickness balanced well with the wieght . I followed the instructions on sizing and it fits perfectly. Buy these guy you will not regret it, don't be fooled buy the others. This one is for keeps.

The quality of the coat is well worth the money payed for it. It's made from good material and you can tell this isn't some crappy costume you would buy at a store. I bought a size small and thought that even then it might be a bit too big for me but it fit great, although a little long (seeing as I'm only 5'4"/female) it's not an issue. If you are looking for something like this I definitely recommend buying it from this seller, you wont be disappointed and will most likely be buying something that will last a long time and make many awesome memories no matter what occasions you dress up to.

This is a fabulous item. This is the second version of this coat I have purchased. This is for a plague doctor. I also own a white version to be a mad (well, slightly peeved) scientist. Both fit wonderfully and are comfortable to wear for an extended time. The only negative is the buttons can be a little difficult to work sometimes due to placement. It is a great purchase that will last many years (my white coat is around 5 years old and in near-perfect shape).

Superb quality fabric and excellently adhered buttons. It is indeed larger than expected and sizing down is a good idea. This is a commercial-quality coat that has so far done a fantastic job of repelling the blood and fluids of political prisoners and coronavirus-infected degenerates.

Do not confuse this with halloween costume crap - it will stand up to close scrutiny - all the buttons are working buttons. It is stage quality. Bought this for an Uncle Fester halloween costume for 2 reasons: it appeared to be well-made and it wasn't a monks robe (which every other dealer tried to pass off as Fester's coat). Alright, this wasn't going to be Fester's coat either, but it looked much closer than anything else I could find. It was perfect! I ordered a XXXL because I wanted to stuff a pillow under it and the fit was still a little loose - at 5' 10" the length was all the way to the floor without tripping over it. Add some makeup and a trick light bulb and, poof - Uncle Fester! Helps to start out with a bald head because skull caps are a pita. I also bought a pair of German made welder goggles with 3 different pairs of lens shades - only ones I could find that actually had metal rims, everything in the steam punk world was plastic. Take off the makeup, add the goggles and some wild hair (or not) and let the mad loose. The coat is made from a good cloth and stitched well so it should last for years, unless you really are a scientist, mad or otherwise, and expect to use it daily. I could see using this for a Mortician as well as the Uncle Fester and Mad Scientist costumes. I just ask myself, "What would Christopher Lloyd do with this coat?"

Really, no joke. It is almost too big which for me is a pleasant surprise, I ordered a size larger out of habit expecting to have to send it back for being too short, or not being able to put my arms through the sleeves, instead a well made and accurate sized garment arrived in record time. I am quite pleased.
