Definitely get the shirt heavily starched or make your own from rice flour. The collar should always be very stiff.

My husband is a tall thin guy and the small was a perfect fit for him. It looks great and the buttons and stitching is very high quality. Would definitely buy again from these guys.

Great shirt

Very nice looking and comfortable shirt that is well made in a good quality cotton. Size is a bit bigger than expected, but after a cold wash and a tumble dry it shrunk to a perfect fit.

This is not a cheap replica or tuxedo shirt. It's high quality fabric and craftsmanship. Very please worth the extra money

I am into Steampunk, and this is the conclusion of attire I needed in its creation. I had several other shirts that just couldn't fit the bill for various different reasons. When I put the shirt on with my other clothes and then finally the face mask I created, the shirt gave an added debonair look that made me say only one thing. "EXCELSIOR!!"

Loved the fit and the style and the %100 washed cotton. Exactly what I wanted.

So I work at a chocolate factory and we were testing a new batch of cherry flavored chocolate. I personally hate the taste but it tested good in focus groups. Anyways, I split hot fudge and it blended right into my shirt. I decided to jump in and the supervisor hasn't found me for 3 days. The camouflage is just too good.

I have to dress period

This shirt was my Christmas present for myself. I know, a bit selfish! But it was well worth it! It feels good, looks good, and is worth every dollar! Merry Christmas to me!

Shipping was very fast. Fit, finish, and sizing of this product is excellent. Historically very appropriate for last quarter of the 19th Century. A little fancy for a work shirt but perhaps a "go to meeting" shirt. I like it. I have purchased clothing from Historical Emporium, for years, to do historic shooting with Single Action Shooting Society and National Congress of Old West Ssootists. I have yet to be diappointed. I have only praise for everything I have purchased and for Historical Emporium. You will not go wrong with this company.

I recieved this shirt faster than expected. I have checked it over very well and it is of fine quality. I tried it on and the fit is excellent. I have yet to wear it, but if the multitude of olther clothing from Historical Emporium is any indication, I am sure it will wear well and I will be very pleased.

I work in the blacksmith shop at Historic Camden Park in Camden, SC and so I own several Early American type work shirts. The shirts I have from Historical Emporium are my "go to" shirts. They are well made, rugged and great to work in. The Lamar Work shirt in Burgundy is my fifth and most recent purchase and I get compliments on it each time I wear it. For the money, I don't think you can beat these shirts.

I have bought four shirts off this site. Everyone has been of high quality. This shirt once again is superb, a little heavier than a cotton shirt but soft. The design on the front is subtle and is a great splash of design. Sturdy built I wear this as an everyday. This place does not sell cheap stuff. I wear all my shirts and none have developed problems.

This shirt is built from what feels to be some sturdy material. I expect that I will be able to get moderate use from this shirt over several years. If I am wrong about this shirt and it does not hold up to moderate use, I will be back to update this review.

Really nice shirt fits well & feels good cotton is not scratcy next to your skin . My 12 year old grand daughter gave it a 2 thumbs up rating & in my kind it can not be rated higher than that . I wear what I buy as every day clothes so fit & comfort along with looks matter to me .I will probably buy a few more for every day casual wear

They may call it a work shirt, but it looks good enough for leisure wear as well. The fabric seems to be sturdy and durable enough to qualify as a work shirt. It will receive a bit of rough wear over the next few months, and I anticipate it will retain its good looks.

Perfect colour and nice fit.

My husband is extremely pleased with this shirt. It was originally bought for a costume but he's now planning to order at least one more for regular wear. The fabric is a very nice weight and quality and I am impressed with the construction and quality of the seams. The colour is a perfect deep burgundy.

OK, so I am new to Cowboy Action Shooting, and dressing the part. The thing is, I,m not really a great shot, SLOW, but DAM, do I look good in this shirt, and it,s always MIND OVER MATTER, I don't mind being slow, and it just dosent matter. Love my shirts

I liked how well it was made and the use of metal buttons. The shirt is a bit longer than I expected, but perhaps true to the style of it's times. I can make adjustments. Otherwise, it's going to look great at my next performance. I am going to look great. I compete in Western Dressage and my Historical Emporium attire brings a bit of class to the occasion, I am told.

Very nice shirt. We are using this on a ballet production with a western theme.

i’ve bought these shirts in every color! they’re fantastic! occasionally, i’ve received a shirt with buttons that are loose & these have to be re-sewn before wearing; otherwise, you’ll be trying to replace an irreplaceable button; thick cloth! great items!

Nice shirt, a little pricey, but very cool

The shirt seems authentic in all ways- very heavy fabric with excellent stitching detail. I was surprised at how large it is. I know the info stated it was cut full like the originals but I am an XL and have trouble getting XLs with adequate arm length. I ordered a 2XL just be be sure. It is big but better that than sleeves to my elbow. I think I would rather do a little tailoring than have it to small. The length is great also. All in all "excellent" but it was a bit pricey. I plan to wear it at the range when I shoot my Kentucky long rifle. Cheers REX

The denim Longview Bib-Shirt was my 6th shirt of that style... each one a different color. ( I have one of every color available in the Longview Bid style) For me, the style is kind of my > 'signature'. I just returned from Tombstones "Helldorado Days" where I wanted to get my photo taken with the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday. I had wonderful black Frontier Classics trousers, red apache scarf, grey tweed vest and white banded collar shirt. I ended up hating the shirt. It made me feel like I was choking. I bought the Sinclair Edwardian shirts in all the colors available and LOVE them. With the proper ties I can leave the collar unbuttoned, breathe and still look good.

I most recently had the opportunity to attend a “Black Tie Chic” event. I did not want to purchase an entire tuxedo- what do to? I turned to the myriad of shirts at Historical Emporium to put together a “look”. To include the Tuxedo-look of the Sinclair Edwardian Club Collar Shirt and Gold Vest. Well let me tell you I looked sensational- some folks came up to me and said I looked dapper. I was worried about size but the shirt xxl fit fine- great cotton feel. I did have a bit of a problem with the vest - which I will comment later. Bottom line - I will definitely be a repeat customer. Thank you.

Ordered the Sinclair Edwardian Club Collar Shirt - Black in 2x as per sizing instructions, it was a perfect fit, looks awesome. Recently wore it with the Emerald Isle Vest and Emerald Isle Puff Tie, was told it looked "Very dapper"

Well made, love design and the button up front actually being functional

This is really a great shirt. I tried it on and everything fit great but the neck, it was a little tight (Hope it doesn't shrink after washed). I chose a medium and the sleeve length was just right. The color is bright and the buttons seem to be just great.

I just simply needed a classically designed shirt for a semi dressy outfit with my new Callahan Frock Coat. I'm a retired architect and a jewelry artist, and I prefer distinctive clothing. I'm in the process of making a very special hand carved Australian Opal and yellow 18k gold-set bola tie to wear with this outfit. The shirt's tailoring and fit is just what I was hoping for. I normally wear an extra large and this shirt is an extra large. It fits perfectly and no alteration is needed.

I couldn't be happier with the quality of the product. The fabric holds a press without starch and the stitching is second to none. As good a shirt as any I've had made by a tailor. These "old style" western shirts are so comfortable and cool that they can even be worn in this Texas heat! The puffy sleeves permit air-flow and do not cling to one's arms like modern western shirts. Those people of yesteryear who didn't have air-conditioning knew what they were doing. I wear Western Emporium attire on a daily basis and the compliments at WALMART, KROGER, McD's, never stop. When people inquire, I always proudly mention Western Emporium. Western Emporium attire has replaced my old wardrobe entirely ... and permanently. These clothes suit me and they make a statement: "I don't have to be like everybody else, because I'm not." This is not for pride or arrogance, it is for being free to be who I want to be and I like what Western Emporium provides.

The Morgan shirt was everything I was hoping for. Nice soft material and in a beautiful shade of blue. Overall quality is excellent and I am tempted to buy another!

This isn’t a costume shirt, it’s a dress shirt designed to the style of a former era, so I expected a lot and it is nearly perfect. Purchased for a Regency/Bridgerton costume to wear with vest and stock. My husband has sensory issues (autism, ADHD) so nothing but a cotton or linen shirt works. This was the only 100% cotton one I found. Seams and buttonholes are dress shirt quality, as expected. No loose threads. Collar has a loop on the back to secure a tie. Collar is double thickness and opaque, stands up on its own but will need ironing and starching. Body of the shirt is slightly translucent - without a vest, an undershirt will be necessary, but it will be cool in summer. Cut is era-appropriately boxy to loose. Lots of ease across the back with pleating. My husband is a chest size 44, but shoulders are 46 so we ordered XL. Turns out he could have sized down to L, as the shoulders are 1/2” past his natural shoulder, but as Regent shoulders were drop shoulders anyway, we’re keeping it. My husband is 6’, but with a 31” inseam so his torso fits like a 6’2” person. The length is perfect, and even at 6’4” you likely could get away with it, though it may be a little harder to keep tucked in is you’re doing more than walking and sitting. We’re very pleased with the shirt and I suspect he’ll look for other occasions and ways to wear it, because it’s so comfy. Photos are hung up wet to drip dry. Relatively wrinkle free, but needs ironing and collar...

Our grand daughter has chosen the theme of late Victorian for her wedding. Her colors are red and Gold. The first coat, shirt and pants that I ordered were too big and I needed to return them for the next smaller size. The exchange was accomplished within 5 days. A company rep. was very helpful when I called about the problem. The replacement garments are a good fit although I will need a small alteration to the vest because my middle is larger than my chest. Quality & workmanship of clothing is excellent and I expect that they will last for many years.... and Never go out of style. Thank you! I plan to order additional items in future.

I interpret as an undertaker in Ohio in 1898. We provide a variety of events including working/living in a 19th century village. I fully recommend this shirt as it looks very good/authentic and it's comfortable.
