Commander 19th Century Work Vest - Black

Bought this for my grandson and he loves it!

Recently, I had the pleasure of experiencing a Valentine's Day outing in Gettysburg. I must express my sincere appreciation for the consistently high caliber of products and services offered through this platform.

This is a nice vest however it is so stiff I can't imagine wearing it.

Excellent vest, sizing was accurate (M). Only minor downside is that it catches dust like crazy, but a lint roller is a worthwhile investment regardless.

I purchased this vest but sadly the fit was wrong for my body, the vest was shorter than I expected and sat above my belly button. The vest quality and construction was top notch, I really wish it fit as this was going to be a work vest.

i ended up with the commander vest in crimson because my first and second choice of color must be the same as everyone else. black and walnut were both sold out in my size. you guys must be doing something right. your products are obviously popular because i'm waiting on other things to be restocked in my size. This recent purchase was part of my first order from Historical Emporium. I am astonished by the quality of the workmanship and the excellent fit. At the back of my mind I guess I was wondering,'costume?' I was wrong! This vest is something I will be wearing for years to come!

This vest looks amazing, Very well made of a sturdy denim-like material. The Dark Burgundy colour goes well with a white shirt.
The sizing is accurate, which means if you are not sure order the next larger size.

Love this vest. Very unique style. High quality material and great for every day wear. Also a great price compared to many “similar” vests. This does fit a little shorter on me than pictured, but it’s a great looking vest.

I ordered the smallest size, as I'm very skinny and stuff like this is hard for me to get a good fit in, and it fits pretty much perfectly, wish they offered more of their vests/coats in a 35 chest. I was expecting a costume quality piece, but when I opened it a tried it on I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The canvas feels like it'll last a decade or two, almost like how a carhart jacket feels. Worth the price for sure. I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but if you undo the top 2 buttons you can turn down the lapel and it gives the look of a traditional vest, so you can wear it in different fashions. Not to mention its very comfy

As a new customer I held off reviewing for a more complete experience. After a couple months, I could not be happier! Since I enjoy vests I plan to buy as many as I can.

I find the most helpful reveiws discuss sizing and not aesthetics. For me, the fit depends on the cut of the garment, I am to thick to wear "skinny" tailored clothes and often, if I go one size larger, it can look like I am wearing my father's clothing. In a sport coat I look for a 43" regular and once again depending of the cut of the garment, along with my own seasonal weight loss or gain, the article of clothing "fits" or looks styling or looks like I am in desperate need of a tailor. Out of the bag, my ordered "Commander Vest" fit nicely and allowed enough room for me to feel comfortable without adjusting the back strap. I purchased this vest for part of a SteamPunk costume I've assembled to wear to DragonCon in the fall of this year. I'm still working on some other applications...

This is the first time I've ordered from Historical Emporium. I've perused the items for some time, but never had the courage to order. Well, I was not disappointed!
