Here are three pictures of myself relaxing in the park with my 1922 VV-50 portable phonograph. These were taken at an old historic mansion on the park grounds, it made for a nice and peaceful setting to enjoy the music.

At the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site in Florida, Missouri, we do a rotating display of his first editions to protect them from light and wear. Mark Twain wore a straw boater similar to this one when he worked as a cub pilot (learning the ropes) on steamboats on the Mississippi River.

Brian Recently, my company held a "Roaring 20s", Great Gatsby themed party. The first thing I thought was that I had to get a boater hat so I went to Google of course lol! Every one would be wearing their best and I wanted to stand out. I did! I expected to see maybe 1 or 2 other boaters, but mine was the only one! I got so many compliments on it, and some of the other guys even asked where I got it, because they looked everywhere but couldn't find one. I told them about Gentleman's Emporium. Kristin & Andy My husband plays in a dixieland band and was thrilled with this beautiful hat! He has an XL head and the XL seems to be the right size. The ribbon band is dapper and the inner-rim padding is very comfortable. We're hoping it "wears in" a bit to a more oval head shape. We would recommend this hat from Historical Emporium to anyone and everyone!

Lincoln A sunny summer demands a good hat. I'm glad I got this. It's much higher quality than most boaters, a really nice stiff straw rather than a cheap plastic or styrofoam one. It fits perfectly, and I've worn it to every social event this summer to great reception. Top-notch as always.

Michael I have owned the Gents Straw Boater hat for almost two years now and have been very happy with it! It is constructed of a thick durable straw weave with thread binding which has held up quite well. I followed the sizing chart on the web page and the hat fit perfectly, it is very comfortable. I wear this hat almost every day during the summer months so its durability has been thoroughly tested, it has even been soaked after I got caught in a rain storm one evening. The hat has held its shape and still looks nice.
In comparison to my antique boater this one is constructed of a heavier and looser weave which is a bit more flexible. The band is also hot glued in several places in addition to the thread binding, though it is not noticeable. If you lift the hat with the brim it will flex slightly, where as an antique one will be stiff as cardboard. A great plus though with this new hat is that you don't need to worry about it since it can be radially replaced if lost or smashed.
I highly recommend this hat for both formal and casual summer wear. It is light and comfortable in the hot summer weather and also provides some sun protection for your ears (something that a ball cap won't give you). I've receive many complements while wearing my boater too, people love the way it looks and I love how comfortable it is! :)
