Patrick and his family moved to Canyon City during the last gold rush with a plan to provide beef and horses to the miners in the area. Fortuitously, the boom lasted for a decade during which time Patrick was able to build a sound ranch that prospers even now that the vein has played out.
Following his wife’s untimely death from consumption, Patrick became a favorite of the local ladies. While he enjoys the endless parade of friendly visits and home baked casseroles, he has thus far dodged the bonds of matrimony.
