The tan/brown Bernadettes were my first ever purchase from American Duchess five years ago. Whenever I shop for any shoes I hover between a size 7 and 7.5 depending on the style, so it was a toss-up for me when buying these. Back then I got a size 7. They fit for a while, or so I thought. Long story short, I highly recommend you size up at least a half size with these due to the pointed toe shape. My feet changed and I just couldn't wear my size 7 Bernadettes any more so I recently bought a second pair in a size 8. MUCH better. I've never worn a size 8 before but in these shoes it was absolutely necessary. They felt "normal" even though on paper you would think they would be too big. Also, fun fact, the tan/brown colorway seems to have changed over the years. I love the new ones so so much in their new color and fit. I got the cognac & black because they would coordinate with many of the pieces I have in my wardrobe. They look great and for me broke in with only a few wears. My one criticism is I’d have liked longer laces. I have high arches so I was barely able to get them tied but I can definitely agree with another reviewer about the fit being so good even without tying the laces. I did speak with costumer service and they were helpful with suggestions for me. Definitely treat yourself.
Not only are these shoes visually striking, they're also extremely comfortable. Really didn't need a break in period. I bought a size 11 and it fits so well, it doesn't even need to be tied, as evidenced by the photo. No idea how long I walked around with an untied shoe!
Had these shoes for a while now and I love love them. The breaking in period is probably one of the scariest for any shoe I’ve ever owned but totally worth it because I’ve worn them into cities, most dancing occasions like weddings or prom, and basically anywhere if not everywhere. They’ve never given me trouble for good day to day wear and they are SOOO cute.

Stalked the listing until I could finally afford them. I wore them to shabbat and got so many compliments, mostly from men surprisingly enough. Great quality, ordered up a half size based on prior experience and they fit great.
I have two pair , one in brown/tan colorway and the other in the perfect Fall colors black/cognac . I ordered size 8.5 in the lighter colored shoe for warm weather wear & sheer stockings or bare wear & the cognac in a 9 for cooler weather & warm socks , worked out great . I think the brown/tan would even work with some later looks like the 30s . Different fit than the Londoner , shoe sides above the stripes comes up higher & can rub the ankle bone if that's an issue you have , I just wear socks or stockings and that's enough for me .
I love my shoes. Third pair from this company. I only wish they came with extra laces or ones that won’t get dirty as easily. Comfortable shoes
Ordered two sizes to make sure they fit (they were to be a gift). Missed the "final sale fine print". Customer service was inflexible, though I ordered two for size purposes to return one, so I am stuck with two pairs that don't fit my fiancée. Want to buy a 7 or 7-wide pair of these at a discount? Let me know. Caveat emptor.
What a nice surprise I had for myself. Perfect fit as always and adoring comments from my guests about my beautiful shoes. What else do I want?

I ordered an 8 in 2 other styles. They fit beautifully. These fit a half size too small. Company refuses to exchange EVEN IN PERFECT CONDITION.

Glad to see these are carried in a women's size 12! Length appears to be true to size. I have a wider toe area and narrower heel, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pointy toe doesn't pinch and I haven't needed to add a heel pad in the back. The black and white shoe goes with so many things and does look good with black socks. These are one of those shoes where you get compliments from total strangers!
These are my first pair of AD shoes, and they are wonderful. True to size and very comfortable.
Comfortable and makes me feel expensive. I usually buy my shoes a Goodwill.

Great colorway for upcoming Oogie Boogie! Fit well, with surprisingly roomy toe box. Loosened up after only a couple of wearings. Heal height is good for walking the park/dinner.
They are terrific shoes.
Beautiful! A bit tight on one foot but good on the other. Will work at breaking them in. I usually wear shoes barefoot. Good shoes are worth every dollar.
Very good quality. Just like described. The tan color is darker than expected. They seem a bit narrow, a bit small. Will have to continue to wear them to break them in some. I do recommend these shoes.
I have problem feet and a love for the vintage look. I thought I’d take a chance and order a pair from American Duchess, fully expecting problems with fit & feel. These shoes are like miracles. Beautifully designed and made, they have not only style, but support and comfort, too. These are just my first pair of American Duchess and are worth every penny!!
I’ve been wanting a pair of Bernadette’s since I watched Bernadette Banner’s video about collaborating with American Duchess to design them. I’m so glad that I finally decided to buy a pair. They fit beautifully and are quite comfortable to wear all day.
I adore these! Right out of the box I was able to wear them around the house and they are infinitely more comfortable than sneakers. I have 63 year old feet which have been through the 1980's pointy-toed 9-West-brutalist shoes, so trust me on this: Comfortable shoes are heavenly and a rare find. I was skeptical, but I am amazed. While I won't mow the yard or garden in them, I will be wearing them in the house to do my housework. Very comfortable.
I've been looking at these shoes for almost a year, and bought them as a birthday present to myself. I did need to return them for a half size up because my toes are a bit wide, but the return was fast and painless.
The heel is the perfect height and very comfortable to walk in. I was slightly worried that the color would be too "halloween-y", but the cognac is more of a warm brown than the pumpkin shade that appears online. I can definitely wear these to the office, not just to vintage events.
