These boots are so fun to wear with different outfits. I've already gotten many compliments on them. I wore them around the house for a day in order to break them in. I like knowing that I'm not relying on a zipper (which would eventually break) to determine how long I can keep these boots since they are lace-up only. It takes a bit longer to put them on, but I can adjust how tight they are to my foot and leg. They also come with extra long laces if needed. I can tell these boots will stay with me for a long long time.
Have had my eye on these for a while and finally bought them during the Silver Bell sale. The sides dug into my ankles a little bit, but fit more comfortably after a few hours of wear around the house. Other reviewers mentioned them being comfortable out of the box but I would recommend breaking them in before walking very far. I order size 8 regular width for all my American Duchess boots but considered returning these for a size 8.5 as they pinch at the widest part of my foot, oh well lol. Still so pretty and will go nicely with my mountaineering outfit I am making :)) The color and style are exactly as described.
I bought these for Dragon Con and I knew I'd be walking for miles. So I wore them to my job to break them in. They were comfortable the very first day. I walked for 3 miles total before the con, and walked 12 miles in them during the con. Comfortable the entire time and fit like I'd had them for years. Very happy with this purchase!
As always, these boots are absolutely beautiful! I'm so excited to break them in and wear them in the autumn.
My daughter bought these boots last year and I have been lusting over them since. Thank you, Bastille Day Sale! Finally, I can justify getting them, knowing these boots will be worn in and out of season and will probably replace every other pair of black boots/shoes I own.
I did buy 1/2 a size up, because the toe is more narrow than the aviator boots, which I own in brown. It was a wise decision.
I absolutely love these boots! I can’t stop wearing them. I get so many compliments and I love telling people what era they represent. Modern shoes and boots are nowhere near as beautiful and interesting. Also! They are so comfortable.
These boots were probably one of the greatest Christmas gifts I have ever received! However, I will advise you to be careful walking about if you live in an area that gets snow and ice in the Winter, as the boots will slip on ice. They do fit me a little loosely, but I may grow in later years to fit them better. Overall, they are amazing boots!
I have been waiting for the restock of the stunning boots in my size for nearly 3 years and am absolutely THRILLED to finally have them!! They were a comfy fit immediately, a breeze to lace with the easy-lace hooks (once you get the hang of it), and I have worn them almost every day since I got them! They have, however, shown me that I really need to start moving more. My calves are so scrawny they buckle as tight as they can!

For a year, I’ve saved up to buy these boots, and they fit so perfectly and securely! I’ve been carefully breaking them in before I take them to a convention, and they’ve become so comfortable. I feel ten feet tall, yet elegant all at once! I did have one hook bent too far inward when it arrived, but a slight pinch of my beading pliers fixed that right up without causing damage. No regrets!
These have been in my closet for a while. I finally took them with me to Teslacon. As usual I put inserts in them because my feet are slightly narrow. As soon as I laced them up I knew it was going to be a good day. The first day I wore them for 8 hours. Two days later they were on for another 6. I was nervous when the company was sold, but the quality is still there!.
I’ve gotten four pairs of American Duchess shoes by now and these are by far my favorite. I got them during the sale and they’re the comfiest pair I have. Despite having a pointed toe they’re still super comfy for having wide toes. I’ve worn them around all day without any problems.
I'd only wear silk stockings with these, as they fit pretty snuggly. I can't wait for fall so I can wear my wool dress with these!
It was hard to justify spending so much on shoes, but I’ve worn these so many times and I can’t tell you how much I love them. They’re super versatile (I’ve matched them with so many outfits, with pants and skirts, with everyday looks and costume pieces), very comfy, and I just feel awesome when I wear them. One of my favorite clothing pieces.
These boots look amazing in the website photos, but they far exceed those photos in person. They are absolutely stunning. They fit true to size. With the lacing easy to adjust to make sure there is enough room in the foot and leg, they are actually very comfortable.
I absolutely adore these boots. When they went up for pre-order I knew I had to have them! They were well worth the wait. As with all of my AD shoes, the first thing I did was take them to my cobbler and have a rubber half sole put on to protect the leather. I also had him waterproof them. With those things done, I can wear them with confidence.
I recently wore them for an all day excursion around the San Diego Zoo. It was a long day of walking and standing and these lovelies were well up for the task. The kept my feet comfy all day. They also provide good ankle support with enough flexibility to make walking easy.
Needless to say, I highly recommend these boots!
These boots are beyond beautiful, and truly a joy to wear. I’d been saving up for a pair since I saw them, and absolutely adored them once I managed to buy them. The shoe itself is built well and while the leather does scuff and wear easily, but that’s part of the charm.
However, the metal used for the quick lacing and buckles leaves much to be desired. Both buckles broke on one shoe last week, and the metal pieces for lacing could be bent with my bare hands. My advice to purchasers would be to be very careful with the buckles, and perhaps search for a different pair if you’re taller/have wider calves. Then again, that’s just personal opinion.
No discomfort upon wearing, some odd folds in the twill but nothing that hurts. I’d recommend these shoes highly for more petite people to be worn every so often, but if you don’t adhere well to standard sizing, maybe find a lower pair of shoes.

My new favorite pair of boots by miles. Construction and material seem like they will only get better with time... the leather scuffs easily so be careful trying them on! Once you decide to keep them, though, wear and tear looks awesome.
Re: fit- if you're over 5'5" or have long legs, the shape of the calf will hit a little bit awkwardly and create some bunching at the ankle. Doesn't take away from the style or comfort, and kind of par for the course in terms of being above average height. Be ready for it but don't let it stop you!
Wow, these lovely boots are surprisingly versatile if you are a bit of an adventurous dresser. I purchased them with a very specific semi-formal glam-goth outfit in mind. Then discovered they look equally awesome with leggings and an oversized tunic, leather leggings with a tee and blazer, leather skirt and bohemian blouse, and so on.
The fit: I wear a 12 M and these fit my regular American street shoe size. There is enough room in the laces for a wider foot, ankle and/or calf. Im 6’ with a high muscular calf and my straps are on the center hole.
The color: These are a true burgundy. My screen actually showed them as more of a deep crimson but they are actually a bit different. The shade of burgundy is exactly the same as the popular burgundy twill banquet linens. Its actually a more versatile tone than what I saw on my screen so I was pleasantly surprised.
Overall all, I love these boots!
These boots are simply perfect and soothe my Out of Africa soul with their authentic Edwardian looks. They are also very comfortable and easy to walk in. I appreciate the lower, walking heel as it makes them easier to wear on a daily basis. Yes, they do require a bit to lace up, but it's a true labor of love and the pay-off is so worth it. The craftsmanship is superb, the construction and materials used are durable and sturdy. I'm wearing my brown Cambridge boots as I write this and will be purchasing the black pair asap before they are gone for good! American Duchess, please design more "sporty" boots with a Victorian/Edwardian flair and a lower heel! AA++
These are the first pair of American Dutchess shoes I have ever purchased, and I got them for my daughter. My first words on seeing them on her feet were, "NO FAIR!! I WANT THOSE!" She's a size ten, they fit beautifully, and she will not take them off. They look incredible in any clothes, modern or historical. (People in high school today were taking pictures of her feet.) I am not, by any means a fashionista, but I am drooling over these shoes. I am going to go swoon now.
