Claire 1940s Oxfords - Brown

I bought my pair of Claire oxfords last year for a fall event but, due to health issues, couldn't attend. I hesitated wearing them as every day work wear because I'm pretty much in Birkenstocks every day. However, I just put them on and not only do they have enough room for my orthotics (they're a little tight in the instep but beggars can't be choosers lol) they have enough room for my toes to move! I did have to add some rubber grips on the front of the shoe as I was sliding around too much. But now I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing these more often than not this fall and winter. Can't wait to buy another pair in a different color!! Thank you for making both half sizes AND in wide width!!!!!

I bought these is both black and brown. Love the comfort and stability of the shoe along with the classic look of the 1940’s.

I needed some 1920s/1930s style shoes to wear for a vintage adventure. I will be climbing over stone and sand and need a sturdy, comfortable, feminine shoe for my size 10 feet. But I also wanted something that looked like the vintage advertisements. I got all of the above with these shoes! Highly recommend!

Tried them on and they fit perfectly! Very comfortable - way better than the original 1940's shoes I own. Definitely will buy more. Oh, and fast shipping, too!

Very lovely shoes! I wear them for reenactments and they’re comfortable and durable enough to trek through fields for days and pretty enough to wear to work and get compliments all day!!!

I’ve had the black for years and finally added the brown! Love them because they go with anything and everything. More colors please!

I must be from a different era. I love these shoes and when I first received them, in what I think is my size, just a wee bit tight. American Duchess is kind enough to take in the exchange and I am so happy with the fit now. Thank you. Classic.

I love everything about this shoe!!! They fit my feet perfectly, look amazing & are so comfortable. I love how they look with all my vintage clothes (much better than my cowboy boots). I’m on my feet a lot, but haven’t noticed my legs or feet feeling fatigued after wearing them all day. They are constructed incredibly well. I like the fact they are made with leather, so I can continue to keep them looking top notch. I’m thrilled to bits & can’t wait to try another Duchess shoe style!!

Some American duchesses have narrow feet. I hoped with this lace up I might be okay with a regular witdth, but sadly they still slip on this dutchess’s heel.

These are surprisingly comfortable. I'm 5'7" and 240 pounds; I really shouldn't be wearing heels. I got the 10W and I was actually shocked by how comfortable they were. Granted, my knees and back hurt, but my feet did not, not even a blister. I would recommend the sole protector if you plan to do any city walking and are as heavy as I am, as the leather soles won't last.

Authentic!! I have a wide toe box, so I was a bit apprehensive. I ordered my regular size and they fit without smooshing up my toes. They feel comfortable and am certain I will be able to wear them for long periods of time. I am looking forward to wearing these out on the town!

I’ve been eying these shoes for months and finally took the plunge and ordered. Amazing!! Crazy comfortable, true to size (7.5 US), and just the touch of vintage I wanted to add to my wardrobe. A tiny bit stuff until broken in, but no chafing thanks to the low cut design. So well-made. Will absolutely be ordering another style!

I don't think anyone would call these beautiful shoes, but they are beautifully made and fit well. I will be using them as uniform shoes with a WWII WAVES officer uniform costume for a fundraiser, and they're perfect for that. As always, AD is high-quality and accurate.

Heard great things about this brand, but only just took the plunge. The shoes look amazing, and are unbelievably comfy, even before I've had a chance to 'wear them in'. Came with spare heel for when these wear down...Absolutely would recommend.

Just received these and I’m thrilled with them. As with all of AD’s styles I’ve bought, they fit me like a vintage glove. Recently I’ve had some knee issues that have made it hard to wear my higher heels and that meant the need to go down to a lower heel for 40s events than my beloved Marilyns for the time being. These are the perfect size heel for all-day comfort and as usual they’re just gorgeous visually. This is my fifth pair of AD shoes in about 5 years, the first pairs still going as strong as the newest, and I’m still in love with the brand - here’s to many more.

I ordered the Claire oxfords in a half size larger and added padding at the front and an arch support, but I still found the shoes too uncomfortable to wear for long. There was very little padding in the insole and the soles were so thin I could feel the edge of the heel from inside the shoe. They were another example of the poor structure of American Duchess shoes. I have never had a pair that was comfortable enough to wear for long. I will not purchase their shoes again, lovely though they may be.

Quality shoes that are comfortable and fit well. Love the extra taps as I’m heavy-footed.

These really look the part of 1940’s shoes. Incredibly comfortable and the heel is perfect to give your leg shape. These spark joy!
