In the Fall of 1878 in New York, Frank O’Neil was arrested for trying on a brand new pair of Congress Gaiters, then waltzing out of the store at 24 Hudson Street without making payment. The police caught him shortly thereafter, ensuring his place in history. You’re sure to find these boots irresistible as well, perfect for all of your fancy footwear occasions. This is a timeless style, appropriate for mid- to late- nineteenth century onward.

Crafted with faux leather uppers, our slip-on men’s boot features authentic elastic side-gussets and durable 1 inch non-skid heel. The boot shaft measures 5¼ inches tall from the sole of the foot (not including the heel) to the top of the boot.

Imported. Available in men’s sizes, 7½-13.

Congress Gaiter- Shoes

I was very pleased in the fast delivery time. I naturally tried on the shoes as soon as I got them. The fit was great, so comfortable, they were like shoes I have had for a long time. Very comfortable, I wore them for a full day with no pain. I have a Victorian event coming up soon and I know I can wear them and not have any problem with break in time.

Almost amazing, but still incredible!

I must say, these gaiters look incredible. Very stylish, inexpensive, and fit with most clothing for sale on this shop well. However, I noticed two problems that I've had with them. The first one is that, on certain surfaces, the leather or some other material in the shoe leaves black marks on the floor. I'd advise being mindful of where you wear these as it leaves marks on the shoes themselves. The second problem I encountered was that there wasn't much sole support inside of the shoe. It can lead to them being slightly uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time. This can be easily fixed by wearing two layers of thick, wool socks (as I've found useful). Overall though, these are amazing shoes and I would recommend them to anyone interested, as long as you keep these in mind.
