Description

Indulge in a piece of history with Flora Embroidered Boots, an exclusive reproduction of the intricate opera and evening boots popular in the late Victorian period. Expertly crafted with intricate botanical detailing, these stunning satin boots will take you back to an era of sophistication and finesse. Wear them with bustle and Belle Epoque attire from the 1870s to c. 1900, or with modern dress as a statement piece.

The Flora Boots are designed in collaboration with the Bata Shoe Museum. Every pair of shoes from the In Bloom collection benefits and supports The Bata Shoe Museum in their study, outreach, and conservation of historic footwear.

As a lace-up boot, Floras are very adjustable for a wide variety of ankle, calf, and instep measurements. The top of the Flora boots does not extend to the widest part of the calf muscle. Measurements scale a little based on size.

These measurements based on size 7.5:
Ankle range - 9 to 13 inches / 22.8 cm to 33 cm
Shaft height - 7.8 inches / 20 cm
Boot top range - 9.4 to 13.4 inches / 24 to 34 cm
Tongue width - 4.5 inches / 11.5 cm

Though the antiques were made in silk, our boots are made in a durable and cleanable polyester satin, the ideal choice for footwear built to last.

Really pretty and comfy

I saw people suggest sizing about a half size up, and I’m really glad I did. I comfortably fit heels in a 7.5 and I got these in an 8. They are wonderfully comfortable and very walkable. You do definitely need to unlace them at least halfway to get your foot in. The thing that cost a star is the wear on the heels. I’ve worn these to dinner once, and the heel area already looks a little scratched. Nothing super obvious, but enough to be annoying. For the price, I did expect better quality. Still recommend these boots!

Breathtakingly Beautiful Embroidered Shoes

I purchased these to wear on my wedding day, and the moment I saw them, I knew they were the ones. They are truly some of the most beautiful shoes I’ve ever laid eyes on. From the quality of the materials to the craftsmanship, every detail feels thoughtfully made with care and intention. They’re also incredibly comfortable, which made me love them even more. I will absolutely be purchasing from American Duchess again, thank you for creating such beautiful shoes for my special day.

Comfortable and beautiful

My goal is to wear these beautiful boots to the Orlando based Central Florida Scottish games in mid January. I love that the heels are shorter and sturdy, but the fabric supports the ankle. I can stand and greet the visitors to the tartan ball in comfort.

Perfect Wedding Shoes

I'll start by saying that these boots are gorgeous! They arrived in a timely matter and very well packaged. The color was a great match for my dress (I used Silk Baron's ivory taffeta to make mine). I ordered the water and stain repellent, which went on very well and worked perfectly--not a single speck after my indoor/outdoor wedding. Easy to break in, very comfortable to wear. No complaints on performance.

About fit--I got lucky, and the fit was perfect. I had my feet professionally measured at a local store and spoke with AD's customer service. They said to ignore the foot measurement and go strictly by my high heel measurement. Well...that varies from a 7 to a 8.5 depending on the brand, not to mention some are wides and some are normal widths. Ultimately, when I did an average, I decided on a 7W...which was out of stock (I purchased during a sale, highly recommend!). So I risked it and bought a 7.5 in regular width, as my foot is wider than the standard B, but not quite "wide" at a D. So if you are just a little wide, going up a half-size might do it.

I saw another review gave a crucial piece of advice, so I'm seconding it now: for these boots you really do need to unlace them aaallllll the way to get your foot in. I unlaced mine all the way to the little lace loop on the tongue, and just loosened the rest, and it made all the difference.

I haven't worn them since getting married in early October, so I can't speak to how well they'll hold up over time, but I think these are lovely shoes, well-worth the splurge. (Still buy on sale if you can though!!)

Wonderful!

I've had my eyes on these shoes since forever, and finally pulled the trigger when they went on sale. They are even more beautiful in person than they are in the photographs.
As for fit, I am typically a Size 9. These are my very first pair of shoes from American Dutchess, so I was rather nervous about getting the right fit. I sized up to a 9.5, and was glad I did. My foot (as you can see), is not quite wide, but it certainly isn't narrow, either. With the 9.5, I have enough room to comfortably wear the cotton stockings I purchased with the boots, and then some. The way the boots tie, they are secure enough that they do not slide around my foot. So I reccomend sizing up a half size (if your foot is anything like mine; I have an average arch, by the way).
On that note, it is also necessary to unlace them down to halfway (at minimum) to put them on and/or take them off (much like Dr. Marten's, for example), so do be patient with them. They are worth the trouble :)

Wedding shoes

Everyone was IN LOVE with my wedding shoes. I had an outside ceremony, where it had rained all week. And the protective spray worked wonders. I had mud on them from walking and taking outdoor pictures. They still look amazing even after the wedding. I really loved the quality of the shoe and will be purchasing more shoes in the future!

They actually are comfortable

I bought these boots to wear in a fashion show. I have a problem with my foot after surgery. I put on the boots and ended up walking three blocks to the show. I didn't even use inserts. They were so comfortable and so beautiful. I am so amazed.

Awesome boots!

These are so beautiful and comfortable. My daughter had ordered the ivory pair so I tried the purple. So happy I did. Highly recommend! I ordered 1/2 size up and they fit perfectly.

Great for Brides

I got these for my wedding in October, and so far wearing them around the house has been so comfortable. They take some time to put on and take off, but because they're so comfortable, I should be able to wear them all night with no worries. I did get the half size up like other reviews suggest, and that was a good call. They fit perfectly!

Wedding boots

Bought these to wear on my wedding day. I'll let you know how it goes but breaking them in around the house has been fine. The laces are shorter than I'd like but I have the ability to easily switch them for longer ribbon so I'm not worried.

Perfect

My boots were a bit tight to get on at first. I do not have normal feet. After I wore them for a couple of hours, because they are real leather, they started taking the shape of my feet. We are going to be a good match. :) I will purchase more shoes again. Everyone loves the look.

SO excited for these!

I bought these months and months earlier than I needed to because I just knew they were the shoes I wanted to wear for my wedding. As many helpful reviewers on here have already stated, I sized up a half size from my normal boot size (I usually wear an 8.5 in sneakers and oxfords and a 9 in boots, and I got a 9.5). That was definitely the right choice, anything smaller would have been a tight fit. One thing I appreciated that I hadn’t seen mentioned is that these shoes are fully lined with a very lovely soft leather that keeps the texture of the embroidery from irritating your foot. I’ve had lower quality embroidered shoes in the past that haven’t done something like this, and after a while they just become a pain to wear with anything other than very thick socks. I’m looking forward to wearing these not only to my wedding, but to every formal event thereafter, since I know these wonderful shoes are going to match as perfectly with a suit or a cocktail dress as they will with my wedding dress!
