A Historical Emporium Exclusive!

Short trousers, similar to our Tweed Knickers, were all the rage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The perfect way for a town and country chap to suit up comfortably for sporting endeavors such as golf, shooting and croquet. On the complete flip side of the social stratum, you might find a young newsboy or bike messenger tending to business in a pair pulled down over knee socks.

It doesn't matter if you call them knickers, knickerbockers, or knee-breeches, these shortened trousers always billowed a bit around the knee. This pleated and button-fly pair is kept secure with a 1½" band of elastic at each cuff. Two pockets at the front sides and 2 more button-back pockets on the rear offer plenty of room for a gentleman's carry-abouts. Also, both belt loops and interior suspender buttons are provided. These knickers sit at the natural waist, like modern dress trousers.

Made from 25% wool, 40% acrylic, and 35% polyester. Satin lined to the knee for comfort. Imported. Dry clean only.

Pair with our Norfolk Jacket for a period hunting look.

Nice Plus Fours, unfortunately I ordered the wrong size so I have to exchange them but I can't complain.

A great pair

The elastics are pretty tight at the knee, but other than that these are just about as perfect as they could be. I wasn't expecting them to come with suspender buttons already attached!

You Guys are the Best

Okay We are show and festival vendors! This last huge festival was, Morganton, NC Historic Festival, you can find it online. Folks from as far away as New Jersey and Florida were complementing my attire over and over. The entire outfit had me stepping into a Time Machine about 1905 or 1910 popping up and out in 2025! This limited space cannot contain the many, many, Where did you get that, and WOW, that outfit is super etc etc! The knickers looked great as did the matching tweed vest, red striped shirt and black bow tie. All thanks to Historical Emporium.

Quality and timeliness

Purchased for a 1920s themed birthday party murder mystery, matched with braces, argyle sweater and socks with a flat cap, it looked great. These were long enough to still bag a little under my 6'4" son's knees for the proper fit effect.

I feel the need, the need for Tweed!

I bought these to wear while riding my bicycle in cold weather. While they are perfect for an organized Tweed Ride event, I just prefer to be a comfortable non-racer bicyclist.

Hobbit Wedding!

Purchased these knickers for a hobbit themed wedding in Duluth and people loved it! The pants were incredibly comfortable and breathable on a hot day considering they were wool, to my knowledge. I'll certainly be purchasing again when we build up a collection for Renaissance fests and oktoberfest!

Well made and designed. I may loosen the elastic at the knees as my gams are a bit bigger than the original fit model.

Perfect for winter cycling

I needed something warm to bike to banks and other businesses.
Biking out fits don't cut it.
Paired with over the knee wool socks and a nice vest and overcoat, these knickers fit the bill.
The wool content isn't as great as I'd hoped for, but the synthetic lining makes peddling comfortable.

Nice knickers

I was waiting for my size to come back in stock, and immediately ordered these. Very nice. Made of good tweed. I have bought many items from your store and will continue to in the future.

Great service, perfect fit

Ordered these for my son who was participating in the musical The Newsies, they arrived sooner than expected, were exactly what we were looking for. These were perfect for The Newsies. Thank you for the fast service, and the great product.

Another perfect fit!

This was a perfect addition to my new Victorian Santa suit. My niece (costume designer for a big Vegas show) made me a new vest and coat - but we needed the perfect late 19th century pants. The Gray Herringbone Tweed knickers are a perfect "second suit" along with the Olive Herringbone Tweed trousers I also purchased from the Emporium. Santa will get lots of "looks" this season!

Worth the money

Having bought knickers in the past, the inexpensive models aren’t worth much and they use elastic at the legs and waist to fit everyone. These are just my size. Thanks.

Knickers

The quality of the tweed knickers was awesome along with the fit. Perfect for the 1920's theme wedding!

Great part of a Norfolk suit

I have several Norfolk jackets in pure wool (some bespoke and some off the peg). I have always wanted a Norfolk suit but they're pretty uncommon now except if you go the bespoke route. When I saw Historical Emporium's offering I snapped it up in my size hoping that the 38 waist trousers would be right and it was just about perfect. I'd like a lightly higher rise but that's all personal preference and the pleats probably push us into 1920s or 1930s territory but I love pleats and am glad to have them even if they're not part of the Edwardian aesthetic the Norfolk suit is part of. As part of my Norfolk suit this will join my other Nofolks quite proudly.

The button fly, as clearly described in the listing, is a great touch (though it can be finicky, and this is from someone who has a number of corduroys and smart trousers with button flies, but not so finicky that they're a drawback).

Hiking Knickers

The wool knickers are super comfortable for hiking in the White Mountains, thin enough not to overheat you but the wool keeps warm if the weather turns foul (which it inevitably does). Having your lower legs free gives you additional mobility and ease of stride while keeping your knees covered for scrambling up and over rocky spots.

runs small

Looking at the other reviews, I ordered 2 sizes large and they were still small. Also, the elastic cuffs are pretty tight and make extended wear a little rough.

Great quality breeches

As usual, historical Emporium sells high quality clothing. The trousers are great, and are made with quality fabric. I highly recommend them

Nice Pants

Great knickers, but i thought they had a zipper fly because the description wasn't real clear. Button fly is ok but challenging to do up at times.
