This vest is perfect

Great looking! Very black waistcoat that held an ascot in place on stage while ballroom dancing. Back strap makes it adjustable for a snug fit in the waist.

Great color and the quality is very good

Bought several items. 2 vest, 2 pair of pants, 2 shirts, 2 pairs of boots along with several other items. All fit exactly as expected. The Midnight Hour Vest was much larger than the other vest. But the quality was great. Please note that you will have to send it back at your own cost. It cost me $14.00 just to ship it back and then Historical Emporium will charge you shipping again to get your replacement.

The pictures do not do this vest justice. The pattern looks like swirling ink in a midnight sky.

This vest is wonderful, it has a dark shimmer to it while not being overly reflective. I wear all black with this even the tie. It gives a mysterious vibe.

Be sure to measure the waist

Ordered this vest because I'm 6'4" tall, 275 lbs, with a 53" chest and this was one of the few places where big and tall guys can find dress clothes in 3XLT and up. The product is exactly as advertised, a real dark black, sturdy material with a very detailed, nice pattern that looks awesome in neon lights. The material on the back is also black, and has vertical lines in it. The buttons feel a bit loose after two uses, especially the bottom one, but it is normal wear and tear and there is an extra one included.

The sizing is a bit big, and I know I'm not the first person to comment on that here. I learned that by reading these reviews, too. Like I said, I'm a big guy and it is hard for them to know if you need a 3XLT because you're a broad, muscular guy, or because you're built like Jabba the Hut, so plan on a 3XL being a bit roomy, especially around the arms. It fit great across the chest, but was obviously designed for someone with a bit more fluff to them than I have. Even so, the vest looks great, and if I want it tightened up a bit, it's nothing my local seamstress can't knock out in a jiffy.

Happily, if you have any other problems, the customer service for this site is awesome, so you should be able to clear anything up with ease. Not a bad experience, and I will be a return customer the next time I need nice formal wear.

I am very pleased with the appearance and quality of this vest. Its appearance changes slightly as the light catches the paisley pattern, , adding the subtle touch I was looking for without color. My measurements fell right between the L and XL breakpoint, and I ended up going with XL. It seems quite roomy on me, so the sizing does not appear to run small. It looks great under my cutaway coat!

I purchased this vest recently because I was looking for a dark charcoal vest. The color of the vest in these pictures and the color of the vest I received are a little further apart than I expected. To my eyes the pictured vest is a dark grey, the vest I received is clearly BLACK. Nevertheless, it is a very well made vest. The fit is perfect and it looks damn good with a puff tie.

I bought this vest as something to wear on stage when I perform so it's "costuming" but it's not costumey. I wear it with a modern, slim-fit formal shirt with french cuffs and it has earned me compliments every time I've worn it. When next I'm flush, I'll be getting a bunch of other Historical Emporium vests -- I think this one comes in blue . . . maybe in black and silver. I suspect they'll all work just as well for me. Received this vest within two days of ordering and I must say that it is a beautiful piece. The quality is much higher than I expected for the price. I would recommend this vest. The color/pattern goes as well over just a shirt as it does under a nice suit.
