I was searching for a new "billy jack" hat without spending $500, I took a chance on this hat and Wow !! Well made, brim at least comparable to a 10x stetson. Very stiff. I couldn't be happier!!!

As an actor portraying a sheriff well before 1900, i needed this sort of hat and ... within a week! The hat arrived well before the scheduled delivery date, safely inside a sturdy box. I received compliments on my 'period correct' hat - so you deserve my compliments! Thank you!

I should have paid more attention to the review from Rich from San Antonio (7/2/16). The hat is very stiff does feel flimsy. The xl I purchased was slightly too large but since I didn't care for the hat, I decided to return rather than exchange. That's where the problem comes in. Because the hat can not be stacked, it requires special handling from shippers. That was explained to me at UPS who wanted $57 to ship back. After that, I called Historical Emporium for help. Their only suggestion was to try the Post Office. I did and they wanted $47. So I guess I'll just hold on to it or see if I can donate it to a theater company.

It is not the first time I buy from Montana the most interesting clothing if not frontier gear. I miss my Remington too, but I have found the hat I always been looking for, this one! I can't give 5 stars for a simple reason. I am not used to do it I have just managed to wear it half hour in a two weeks delivery timeline! Not enough but it fits perfectly well on my head. Better if I had `Geronimo's face but I don't and yet, having had it made extra water repellent, I am super pleased with it. Now I need to find a rattle snake skull and I will be happy with it all. Where do I live?~ In Cornwall, UK! if anybody could see how many idiots are having holiday around with thick leather hats looks like they have just missed an audition for a part in a western film. I spotted this hat in a very old movie with John Wayne. I was fourteen. Now 72 finally found it. Stunning one believe me...better with a mokassin's skull on the forehead by the way

Looked a long time, in real trading posts and western wear catalogs and shops, and this is the best "Injun Joe" hat. Very sturdy, beautiful surface, perfect fit.

I purchased an extra large, and I could barely force it onto my head and it sat there painfully. They definitely need to expand the range of available sizes. Other than that the hat seemed to be of decent quality.

When I saw this hat on your website, I thought I'd finally found a style like the one that Tommy Lee Jones wore in "Lonesome Dove". I've wanted one for some time.

The hat I received looked exactly like the one advertised on the website.... I guess I just assumed it would be a sturdy hat. The quality of this hat is the type that you might find at a Halloween costume shop... perfect for one night of wearing.... but not something that will hold up through weekly shows.

This hat is very much like the one worn by "Billy Jack" in the movie from some time ago and this is exactly what I was after. Good material, stiff and well made. Hats like this sell for twice the amount I paid with Historical Emporium. Would highly recommend this item!!!

Very nice hat but Capt. Woodrow Call would've preferred it a bit thicker material. Will look great when I add my sorrel and black braided horse hair stampede string cuz first thing I did was throw away that "lil chin strap" as they call it and "season" it for 2 weeks hanging in barn. This hat seemed light at first, but after working with it for a while the weight feels great. For the money I do not believe you can buy a better quality hat made anywhere, let alone one made in the USA.

The hats I bought, the Montana Open Crown and the Planter Flat Crown, are well made, priced right, and were delivered promptly.

The hat was too round . . . Unlike a persons head. It was too stiff to have any give to be comfortably worn. We are sending it back for an exchange.

Wonderful hat. I portray a U.S. marshal in the 1860's and it works very well. The wide brim is also great to help keep the sun out of my eyes. Western Emporium is great to deal with. They really know what customer service means. Terrific group of people.

The hat is quite stiff but not terribly uncomfortable. The draw string does not work very well
