As railroads finally connected most points of the United States to one another, railways became a very popular method of travel. Railroad security officers were employed to keep travelers safe and protect the rail lines themselves. In the 1880s railroad companies required uniforms and badges to identify the different type of workers on the railroad. Cap badges identified railroad workers such as engineers and conductor, while chest badges in star and shield shapes identified the security or special police officers for the railroad.

Our quality replica has a rustic finish and a spring pin backing. Made of cast pewter.

Measures approximately 2½" x 2½". Made in the USA.
