Additional details include two inset pockets at the waist, a full lining, and an acetate back with an adjuster buckle.

Not what I thought it would be

The vest looks great in photos, but in real life it looks like a mediocre print, silkscreened gray on a black surface. I suppose I imagined that it had some texture to it, but no it's flat. I also hoped the gray was more like silver with a sheen to it, but its a matte finish.
Decently stitched and ok material so I gave it a middle rating.

Nice looking

I ordered this vest using the guide for this vest and I feel like I'm swimming in it, its so large; especially in the chest. I have noticed a problem in their sizing of products like the gun belts, too.
Its a nice looking vest. i will put it in my closet and keep it for my funeral.

Lovely

Minimal tailoring required for own female frame at size small. I have been struggling to find a properly nice waistcoat for some time that wouldn't require a great deal of taking in. This one is wonderful.

Very elegant

Elegant and lightweight, fits a variety of periods for re-enacting - 1820s to 1860s. Works well as part of suit, or on its own without a coat.

The vest is great. I wish they had an 3XLT version

The vest is great. I wish they had an 3XLT version. The satin could have a smoother satin texture.

The 1880's

Purchased another vest. This one was the green penworth Paisley design. I am retired and a professional tour guide in St. Augustine, Florida for fun. I portray the great Henry Flagler which is the father of tourism in my state. I've purchased many items from Historical Emporium and they fit the bill for my portrayal perfectly. Everything I've purchased has fit and the quality is terrific.

Wonderful Period Waistcoat

I bought this waistcoat to wear to an upcoming Dickens-themed event, and I really like it. I originally bought a medium based on the sizing charts, but I had to order a large because the extra length of this waistcoat put the tapered portion of the vest right where the thickest part of my waistline is. Historical Emporium's customer service made buying the large and returning the medium quick and easy! The larger size fits well and is very comfortable, and the pattern matches an outfit my wife will be wearing really well. It's appropriate that the inspiration for this waistcoat comes from an original design from 1843, which is the same year that Charles Dickens published A Christmas Carol - which is my favorite story and a centerpiece of the upcoming event. Thanks again for the great products and top-notch customer service.

Stylish

My son (15 year old) loves the vest. It was used for spirit week in high school and the theme was the 80s so he chose the 1880s...He also has the shirt and the tie as pictured. He looked dapper!

Buy again

The fabric is nice and made fairly well. I had a problem with some of the buttons being loose but that was easily fixed by my wife. I originally ordered a 3XL but ended up returning and exchanging it for a 2XL instead. I'm 6ft and weigh 275lbs.

Only one negative

I've received a few items from you guys now and must say, everything about your company is deeply satisfactory. The quality of the products is beyond reproach, speed of delivery is astounding seeing as I live in Tasmania, and the prices are far lower than the quality would suggest. The only thing that's killing about this waistcoat is that I have to wait five months to be able to wear it at my wedding.... seriously, it's killing me! I'll be wearing it plenty afterwards!

Love it !

I was thrilled when my vest arrived. I'm always a little leary of buying clothing online, however the quality of this item has made me a believer. I will be buying all my victorian era needs from Gent's Emporium from now on. Well done !!!

Worth the Penworth.

Bold and striking, this means business. It is as though you ripped the wallpaper off your favourite saloon and decided to wear it. It is eye catching and well made.

So close

I was eager to get this waistcoat in this style and ordered the large as the medium was not available at the time. As much as I'd have liked to have kept it, it was simply too large. However, I was able to send it back and was given a full refund my GE.
If not for it's size I would have happily worn it.

Great vest, but could be even better

This is an exceptionally sharp vest, and I have gotten many compliments on it. Also, I was quite pleased to find that it *IS* long enough to wear with modern pants! Despite the posted sizing note that back length is ~22", the back seam on my medium measures 23.5", and the curved bottom hem of the front hangs down about 2.5" below that when it's on its hanger. I'm quite glad of the extra length, and have found that I can even wear it with my modern Levi's.

So why did I dock it a star? Well, there are a few things I would tweak on the design:
1) The back, as stated in the item description, is made of acetate. I would have preferred it to be more of the awesome front fabric (or at least a heavier satin).
2) The pockets are rather shallow, and there is room to have made them a bit deeper.
3) I would have preferred slightly larger buttons.
It's still an awesome vest, it's just got room for improvement.
