A staple of 19th-century headwear, the derby—also known as the bowler—was worn across social classes for its practical design and refined silhouette. This tall derby offers a classic profile suited to period, historical, and formal attire.

Constructed from 100% wool felt, the hat features a close-fitting shape with a rounded crown and a short, curled brim finished with a bound edge. Interior details include a grosgrain ribbon accent and a fully lined interior with a leather sweatband for comfort and durability.

The crown measures approximately 4.75 to 5 inches in height, and the brim measures approximately 2 inches in width. Imported.

One Fine Hat

Attire can define the character as well as the occasion complimenting the entire atmosphere of the subject. A chocolate brown and tall derby adds so very much to my brown tweed frock coat, vest, and trousers. I find the look fascinating as well as reminiscent of a day bygone to history. Honoring those days through various events and socializations is honoring our heritage and ancestors. I enjoy participating in these performances and hopefully have some more time left to participate in them. A chocolate and tall derby should be just the ticket!

Beautiful, high quality hat!

This hat is of exceptional quality. My husband says it is the most perfectly fitting and comfortable hat he owns. He is also pleased that the feather is removable; it is nice to change the way it is accessorized depending on his attire.

Tall Derby Brown

Just what I needed for a character for a film. A brown derby is not the easiest to find, but Historical Emporium is my go to store for some hard to find items for costuming. And, had the size I needed which is not always true of this company for commion popular sizes. That is one thing I would like to see corrected by this company. Please restock or have more on hand. Thinking a brown derby may not be a hat that is ordered compared to a the color black. So, having is was a good thing and then in size I needed for character was a real plus.

hat sizes

nice looking hat good construction, having only small, medium large ect choices the fit is not very good. you should include a hat sizer band with each purchase my medium is just too big, but a small won't begin to fit.
