Color: Black

Originally designed by English country gentlemen to ease horseback riding, the tailcoat was later elevated to fashionable daywear by Beau Brummell and, by the 1860s, became almost exclusively reserved for formal evening occasions. A symbol of refinement and precision tailoring, it remains one of the most iconic silhouettes of 19th-century menswear.

Our reproduction tailcoat reflects the styles commonly worn during the 1860s. It features six decorative front buttons that do not fasten, a sharp peaked lapel, and the classic cutaway front with traditional tails. One interior breast pocket and one exterior breast pocket (left side) provide discreet practicality while preserving the coat’s elegant lines.

Crafted from 100% worsted wool for a smooth drape and structured finish.
Imported.

Sizing Notes
Our coats are made with typical American sizing, meaning your chest measurement (in inches) is the size you should choose.
To measure your chest: Raise your arms slightly and measure just under your arms. Be sure to cross over the shoulder blades and the fullest part of the chest. If your belly measures larger than your chest, use your belly measurement for coat size.
Longs: If indicated in the selection list (e.g. 46L,) long sizes may also be available. Longs are approximately 2" longer in the back and sleeves.
