Authentic 1860s style suspenders — ideal for Civil War era portrayals and later 19th century impressions. Known historically as galluses, these reproduction suspenders are designed for serious reenactors and history enthusiasts seeking accurate period details.
Constructed from 1⅜-inch wide cotton webbing, they feature a traditional sewn X-back, replica metal size adjusters, and long leather button tabs at the front. Measuring approximately 51 inches in length, they are designed to fit most wearers.
Unlike modern suspenders, these historically accurate reproductions use metal prong adjusters that pierce the fabric rather than friction sliders or buckles. As a result, minor wear to the strap material will occur over time — consistent with authentic 19th century construction. The front straps are intentionally longer to accommodate a range of sizes; excess length was traditionally tied or tucked behind the straps.
Made from durable cotton webbing with vegetable-tanned leather tabs.
