the fabric of the blouse was a little greenish, but the effect was pleasing and it fit well.

I ordered this blouse to go with my Edwardian jacket and skirt. It fits perfectly, and I am looking forward to wearing it this Halloween and at a Christmas fair.

My wife picked this out to go with the Edwardian Suit. It looks great with the suit and jabot. We are excited to attend the next event in a good-looking kit.

I ordered this blouse for a play I'm in, and the look is Perfect!! The attention to detail (appropriate tucks, long cuffs, etc) is excellent. Shipping was incredibly fast and email communication was great. I am delighted to have found this store - I love having an alternative to the (apologies in advance) - "cheap stuff from C..." that seems to be the only option on Amazon.
My only quibble (and it really is just a quibble) - I washed it so that it wouldn't look brand new. It washed fine, no shrinkage or anything...
But ironing it... Oh man. It takes a LOT of ironing! Ha, I guess it's been a long time since I owned anything that was pure cotton, I'd forgotten how hard it is to get the wrinkles out. ;) Eventually I went out and bought a new iron! LoL
(And yeah, I know this sounds kind of contrary: "so she doesn't want it to look brand new, but she's fussing about getting it perfectly ironed." I can only say there's a difference between straight-out-of-the-box and used-but-tidy, which fits the character I'm supposed to portray.)
Overall, I'm really happy with the item and will definitely turn to the Historical Emporium for future costume needs!

During the summers of 1969 and 1970, I worked on Main Street in Disneyland. I wore a Gibson Girl blouse, long pink linen skirt with a pink gingham waist belt that tied into a large bow in the back. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the garment I ordered. From the photos I was afraid the fabric would be very thin, but when it arrived I realized I was wrong. I am sure this shirt will last me for years to come crawling through early 20th century mines.

I love the style of the Gibson blouse, however, I returned it.
I purchased two different styles of blouses and returned this one.
I usually wear a "small" size. I ordered both blouses in the size "medium".
For me, the neckline and cuffs on the Gibson blouse were too tight.
I would recommend ordering one size larger.
The fabric on the Gibson Blouse was a lighter weight than I expected.

I kept the other blouse and enjoy wearing it.
Historical Emporium accepted my return of the Gibson Blouse.
I will be ordering from them again.

Ladies Clothing, Jackets, evening wear and night wear

I took a chance & ordered this blouse online. I usually like to try on clothes & examine the material before I buy. It fits perfectly! I am very pleased with the feel of the cotton material. I can't wait to wear it on Christmas day. I wanted an "old fashion" look!

This is a quality product with great construction and material. This will be a great basic for many historical costume events. The shipping was fast and it was nicely packaged.

I bought a large based on the sizing chart and the body fits perfectly but the neck and cuffs are meant to fit close and these dimensions should be part of the sizing chart. Also the length of the arm. I found the arms a bit short and the neck and cuffs a bit tight. It is wearable but I would have sized up if I had seen those measurements in advance.

Sizing was very accurate and quality of material very good. I followed the washing instruction provided and the blouse has kept its integrity.

This was my first order with HE, sort of a "test balloon," and it went perfectly. The description warned that the blouses ran a bit small, so if in doubt, order up a size, and I did. Perfect fit. The event for which I need the blouse isn't until October, so I will be doing some more shopping!

This is my second blouse and I like it but I have to again alter collar as it’s just too tall and uncomfortable to wear as is. I love the sleeves and I probably won’t add the darts like I did on my previous purchase. All in all it is a good quality item and very versatile.

This blouse was perfect for what I needed. Working at a museum I sometimes need to dress in costume on certain occasions and this will be perfect for those times. It fit true to size so stick to the size chart and you'll do just fine. I will recommend Historical Emporium to the rest of my staff.

Well made and good quality. It would've been better to order 1 size larger as it seems tight and doesn't align with the size chart. I hope it doesn't shrink very much.

This is a nice blouse that looks very nice when used with the navy blue suit that was pictured together. The size chart let me down this time. The neck is too small and the bust is a little snug. I am thinking about exchanging.

I ordered this blouse for my daughter's history fair. She had to dress up as a historical figure she researched. This blouse was made with good quality fabric, and it's totally different from cheap thin material that you usually see at a costume store. I was very happy with the quality.

The construction of the shirt, the fabric, cut, and so forth are amazing. However, the sleeves are too short for my arms, leaving me with limited arm mobility when the cuffs are buttoned. Other than that, I love it. If you have long arms (I'm 6 feet tall), this may not be a great shirt for you completely buttoned. However, it's wearable, and it is a beautiful, well made shirt.

This shirt is a perfect compliment to the Burgundy Victorian outfit I purchased. I looks as good with a jacket as is does on it's own. Wonderful quality!

I ordered conveniently online and was surprised when I received my classic Gibson girl blouse in the mail. This is to be my first order. The blouse is white with a high color and long cuffs and buttons down the front. The cotton material is soft. The fit was Perfect. I wash all my whites separate as to not discolor them. I did not have problems with shrinking as I kept my dryer on casual setting. It is the perfect shirt for my job. I work at an outside museum and have to revert back in time to the 19th century in period clothing. We interpret a kitchen, parlor, bedroom, and laundry room as well as the school house. This blouse transitions very well. During 19th century laundry and baking interpretations I roll the sleeves up and unbutton top button. When working the school house, toys, and parlor, I leave the cuffs buttoned up and I include a broach at the center of the collar to appear far more reserved. I get two different characters with one blouse! I was so happy with my purchase that I ordered a Muriel pleated blouse as well. These clothes we wear at the museum represent American industry workers and their families in the 19th century. Thank you.
