Perfect fit! Over the years, I have many jackets/coats/suits of all different quality from 100% wool to 100% plastic and all points in between. This is one of my favorites! I am used to more pockets so that takes a bit of adjustment, but I do feel that hip pockets would have ruined the look of this coat so I'm not complaining. (besides it DOES have the tobacco pocket) The vent goes up high enough that when you sit, you don't have sit on the coat itself. I will likely buy more in other colors.

Being a docent at a local museum site, I need victorian era clothing. This frock stood out so outstanding that visitors were asking where I purchased it or was it tailored for me. The fit is amazingly perfect. Color is truly a deep burgundy and is eye catching.
Material couldn't be finer and is a sturdy brushed cotton. Can't say enough superlatives about this garment. Buy it !!! Enough said.

Like the pants , of the same sturdy material, this coat was extra special because it styood out. Most other men chose black, so it helped me stand out. My wife finds me very handsome now.

This coat is more purple than the image shows, but boy does it stand out! Fit and finish are good, buttons secure; looks great paired with white, black, or denim

Exceptionally nice

Beautiful coat that attracts a lot of attention. Sturdy construction, nice details and very elegant. Lightweight enough for warm summer afternoons and short programs/events - lengthy wear on hot summer days would be challenging. It is a coat after all so that is to be expected. Will be perfect for cooler fall weather and winter wear.

I was pleasantly surprised at the fine quality of the jacket. As a seamstress, I typically make all of my costumes. However, I ran out of time and ordered this jacket in a pinch. When it arrived via mail quite quickly, I saw what excellent craftsmanship went into it. The material was of super high quality and the cut of the jacket was exactly what I was looking for - historically accurate! Thank you for providing such a fine product and a beautiful jacket!

I thought this coat was made for me when I put it on for the first time. We live in the south, so I'm not really into coats, but this thing is awesome. Timeless, even though the look is a hundred years old, I can wear it with any of my existing modern clothes. I cannot stress enough, don't let the price of these garments fool you. They are real garments, not Halloween costumes. Great quality and good looking.

The Gillespie Brushed Cotton Frock Coat that I ordered is a handsome, manly, well constructed burgundy frock coat that is attractive and fits well. The color is striking, though not quite as bright a burgundy as seen on the website. Darker by two shades than the website image, the color is rich and eye-catching. The fabric is heavy, and feels as though it will be warm and durable. I’m proud to add it to my wardrobe of period attire.

Decided to go with the Brushed Cotton material since it is for events in the southern U.S.
I will re-review after a few wearings.

It is a rich color that with the appropriate coordinated vest will be a show stopper.

Love the frock coat; beautiful burgundy color. This is a well made and heavy coat best suited for cooler weather.

I always need to have the sleeves shortened at my local tailors. The size 50 coat fitted my 49 inch chest size.

My fiancé and I are having a Hobbit themed wedding, and this coat worked nicely for the groom’s Bilbo Baggins’ costume! The quality is excellent. We did have it tailored to our suit our purposes- the shoulders are quite broad so we took them in for a more relaxed/ less formal look. We also had to exchange for a size smaller- the 38 (my fiancé’s measurements) was HUGE on him! If you don’t plan to wear this over a full suit you may want to order a size down or you’ll look like you’re wearing daddy’s clothes :P 5 stars for great quality at a great price, plus the exchange process was really painless.

I was pretty happy with this purchase...size was right on...I had to have the sleeves shortened but that is typical for me. I wish the material was different, it wrinkles very easily. Also, I did exchange the buttons for a bit more pop to the coat...but I will buy more items in the future.

PS...if you ever make this coat in a crushed velvet I want one!!...or a cashmere...dang...

I like the cut of the coat and it seems to be made well. It will make a good addition to my retro, steampunk on-Playa outer wear. I wore it recently to a Club event but had to take it off as it was too hot. I did anticipate that. I think the only knock on it is that the buttons are so tightly sewn that it is hard to button up the coat. I've experienced worse. It's a good buy.

This coat is impressing and is of great quality and design. It is warm and sharp looking. This coat received many compliments, was comfortable and fit well. Order maybe one size bigger for extra room, but we fit a suit under it and it was doable and well fitting. This coat is a looker and has a modern vintage twist to it and due to that we decided that this coat can be used for more than costume parties. My fiance and I both agree this can be worn to special events, dinners and such. We are pleased. Thank you.

I initially bought this coat for a Doctor Who cosplay. I love this coat. It's very heavy, very "sturdy" for lack of a better word. It's a beautiful color. When I put it on, I was initially worried the sleeves were way too short as I have long arms. However, the reference pics showed the sleeves riding up past the wrists when the wearer's arms bend or outstretch. So my worries were quickly assuaged.

If I had to, I would definitely buy it again.
