I've been eyeing this site for quite a while, so when I had to assemble an Edgar Allan Poe costume, I decided to finally pull the trigger on trying some of these items out. The brushed cotton clothes are QUITE heavy but beautifully made. These items are well worth the money, feel durable, and are stitched well.

Purchased for a wedding in Montana. Nice XL fit. Nice heavy material. It's made well. it is dry clean only but I wanted to loosen it up a bit so I through it in the dryer with a damp towel on no heat. came out ok.

This coat is perfect for the fall/winter. It’s has weight to it and very well made. I needed it for a cemetery tour I was involved with.

This was described well both in the description and in the comments. To be clear to future people purchasing, this is a very thick garment...almost as thick as a jean jacket, but stiffer. I purchased this for everyday dress up and I love it. but it will take a minute to break in and if you are in a warm climate, this is not the best choice. I look forward to purchasing other colors as well. Thank you!

Not many options out there for this style of frock. This looks better than just a costume piece

The fabric is sturdy--essentially denim. Brushed, so with the soft hand of old denim, but with the stiffness of new denim. The fit is correct to slim--for a more casual fit, maybe order one size up. I'm not wholly happy with the seems on the shoulders--they don't lay quite right, but perhaps as the garment breaks in, the folds will relax into a more flattering lay. Still, overall, a very nice coat.

As I mentioned in my review of the Livingston Black Brushed Cotton Vest (which I love), I am a professional carriage driver and I wanted some Victorian era clothing to help me look the part more. While this coat, like it's matching vest, does tend to attract horse hair rather well (which is remedied with the simple application of a lint-roller) I am absolutely in love with it. The fabric is high-quality, as is the stitching that holds it all together. I love the simple yet elegant design of the coat, as well as the handy inside chest pocket and the (very cleverly hidden) two inside tail pockets. These tail pockets were so cleverly hidden that my girlfriend and I couldn't seem to find them, though the wonderful customer service representative at Historical Emporium gladly pointed me right to their location inside the tails of the coat in the lining. This coat is also rather warm on a chilly night, but not so warm that I cannot wear it on the warmer days. I have a 43-inch chest, and I ordered this coat in a size 46. It fits me quite comfortably over my vest(s) and other attire. I would gladly recommend both the Historical Emporium and this frock coat to others!

This coat, (as I named the review) is very simple.
The material has a very thick industrial feel. It's possible that some of the frock coats of that period were. There are no pockets at all on this coat. So with these two facts I could not use this one.

This coat is more outfitted for western wear the period maybe the mid 1800's if you are using the coat for costume it would be fine.

i wasnt sure about this one but when i had it i lived it and i still love it, it feels smooth, it is now my favorite when winter comes.

Very nice coat. I personally added more decorative, shiny, fancy buttons to make it pop more because that's what I wanted. The coat is great without doing that and it will keep you warm!
I enjoy steampunk and this coat is very period accurate for what I was looking for. And believe me, I looked everywhere! I have no regrets and I will purchase more clothing from here in the future.

I’m using this frock coat for dress affairs (such as Dickens Fair, formal events, etc.), as well as for a welcome change to my concert/performance wardrobe! Heavy and extremely well-constructed, it takes a hefty chill off of a cold night, but breathes well, and isn’t as dense as wool. The brushed cotton finish is rich and soft.

Love this coat. The construction is sturdy, like I've come to expect from Historical Emporium, and I like soft, almost "sueded" texture of the material. I'd almost wear it every day, I just worry that would cause the brushed cotton to pill in high wear areas faster than other materials. It's a few inches longer than I expected, the picture looks like it ends above the knees, but I'm 6' and it falls right about knee level - but that's not a problem.

The sizing was spot on and the coat is very well made. I wore it to a Fezziwig's ball and received several compliments.
