Renoir Victorian Button Boots - Brown

Gorgeous, well-made and comfortable right out of the box.

These are my second pair of Renoirs and they did not disappoint. The leather is so soft and molded to my foot nicely. The shape of the last seems to have changed just a little as these seem wider than my other pair. Not going to complain.
I love that they include extra heel caps and buttons!
These will make for nice summer boots and Ball boots next year at the Prior Attire Victorian Weekend!

Literally the most beautiful shoes I’ve ever owned and so far very comfortable! Buttoning the boots without a button hook is definitely doable, just take your time. The boots also came with extra heel caps.

The cheap, plastic heel caps would NOT stay on the cheap, plastic heels. The (expensive) services of a good cobbler were required to make these boots even wearable. I have a great many AD boots and shoes, but this will be the absolute last I will ever buy from them.
"Customer Service" was flip as well, advising keeping an extra pair of shoes on hand for when the heels "pop off" or walking on one's toes until repairs could be made. I buy shoes to reenact in, NOT just pose for photo shoots! The heel caps were literally coming off within minutes of being re-affixed, even using glue. Having a production to be in, I literally resorted to wood screws to keep them on, but the heel caps were so cheaply manufactured they disintegrated within a day. Luckily, there was little damage to the exterior of the shoe and my cobbler says that the uppers are all right, but these shoes are FAR TOO EXPENSIVE to be such garbage! I will never buy from American Duchess again!

So I got these more then a year ago, and let me tell you, I LOVE them so much, but, there are a few problems, I might be the only person who cares about this but its very important to me, they are too loud! And I get it, they are heels, but I got the Gibson heels and there were much quieter, probably because the Gibson heels have rubber instead of plastic for the heel cap. Also, the boots and very delicate, after the first week of wearing them, they were all scratched and the heel caps came off just from casual wearing. But aside from that, these are very comfortable and I can easily stand in them all day, even with back and knee issues

Beautiful and comfortable boot!

I bought these boots for my wedding, and they are beautiful and looked so good! My only complaint is that it seems like the heel caps fell off almost immediately, and I did not notice. I can't replace the heel caps anymore because after about an hour of walking on them, the part where the heel caps pop in is like totally degraded, and the leather is pulling up in places. I think I'm going to try and take them to a local cobbler because I love them and want to continue to wear them. I am a slightly heavier person, so I'm sure that's part of the issue. If you are a heavier person who wants these boots, I would recommend bringing the extra heel caps with you the first time you wear them just in case so you can keep the heels as in tact as possible.

They fit so well and are surprisingly comfortable, just gotta break them in a little bit. Definitely needed a button hook to get them on. So happy I finally ordered these!

I've had my eyes on button boots from American Duchess for some time now, so when they had this amazing sale, I jumped on it. The boots are beautiful and really well made. They come beautifully packaged, with an extra set of heel protectors. The leather is so soft, and the boots are really well crafted. I probably should have ordered a half size up, but I watched their really informative video about show sizing, and I think just getting them stretched will work perfectly. Since you can return them (as long as there is NO sign of wear), I wish I had gotten both a 9.5 and 10 to compare them side by side. Their customer service has been amazing. They respond so quickly, and provide a ton of information. I will definitely be saving up for more American Duchess shoes and boots.

i adore these gorgeous boots!!! i don't normally wear heels since i have weird and sensitive feet but wanted to try with these since they fit my style and it was so worth it! note that i did order a half size up from what i normally wear after reading reviews since i always wear decently thick socks and that was the right choice for me! immediately upon trying them on for the first time they fit absolutely perfectly! i was worried i wouldn't be able to button them at the top because of my slightly larger calves, but had no problem! i wore these out all day last weekend to a farmer's/craft market, got so many compliments, and didn't even start to feel any pain until hours into wearing them (which for me is UNBELIEVABLE, my feet normally start to hurt after around 1-2 hours in other shoes, it took probably 4-5 hours of constant standing and walking to start to hurt in these!) they're incredibly high quality and look and feel amazing, i cannot recommend them enough!!! 🖤

These boots are beautiful and comfortable, but I don't recommend wearing them as if they are anything other than pumps. That is to say, don't think you can wear them outside to walk down the street, any more than you would a pair of high heals meant for the office. I wore mine a couple of times inside- no problems at all. I wore them a third time outside to walk in a 1.5km parade, on a level and smooth, paved street and the heals are destroyed. The heal caps sheered off from the boot heal and now I will have to pay a cobbler to remove them and repair them enough to apply new caps. I expected more durability from these, but I was wrong. These are an indoor only boot, for light wear only.

I'm so pleased that I decided to start my journey with American Duchess with these boots. I have a difficult foot to fit (B-width heel, C-width front, and fallen arches) and normally take a 6.5W. Given this, I opted to go up a half size to the 7. The length turned out to be perfect, and the boot fit my heel (even with a half orthotic) without any issues. In fact, my heel fits better in these boots than in any of the other shoes I own! Although the width at the toe was tight, I used shoe stretchers and they now fit perfectly. I'm absolutely in love these boots — so delighted with the purchase!

These boots are fantastic. They arrived really quickly. I wear a 9.5 - 10 and have high arches. I bought the 10s and they were snug. They fit comfortably with thinner tights/socks and I expect will loosen some as i wear them more. If you don't have a button hook i highly recommend getting one. The buttons are very snug and difficult to fasten without a hook.

I bought these shoes, and listened to the reviews that stated the sizing “was on the nose”. I wear a 8 1/2 but have been purchasing 9’s and 9 1/2’s in AD shoes. I chose to buy the 9 and they just came, but are too tight. Unfortunately I need the 9 1/2 and now they are sold out (in merlot). I wish I would have bought both sizes and just returned the one that didn’t fit.
I love AD shoes and have bought many recently. Because I love these Renoir boots so much I bought a brown pair in the 9 .5. Thank you American Duchess for such a beautiful collection of well made shoes and boots!!

I needed boots for my wedding in November and I had always coveted the shoes American Duchess makes so I figure this was the perfect time to justify the expense. I ordered the Renoir boots in merlot because I wanted something that I could see myself wearing after the wedding. My issue now is stopping myself from wearing them before the wedding. They are gorgeous, truly stunning and shockingly comfortable. I immediately got an email explaining how to use the button hook and how to move the buttons if I need to, they fit perfectly and I can already tell I won’t have to break them in.
Before buying I read the reviews and I saw someone else with a size 8.5 (I also can never find true 8.5 sized shoes), she said these worked perfectly for her and I can confirm their sizing is on the nose.
I always wait before buying pricy items until I have the perfect excuse, but opening them up and putting them on, the quality, beauty, and care that went into them I could have used “it’s Tuesday” as an excuse, and I very well may in the future.

These boots are my best purchase this year so far. The construction is impeccable and the fit is amazing. I chose a half-size up than what I normally wear as I wanted to wear thicker socks and that was the perfect choice. I can absolutely wear them with thin socks as well, so I would suggest going up half a size if you have very arched feet that are a little wider below the toes. As with all American Duchess footwear, these boots are worth every single penny. I definitely see myself wearing these every day for spring and fall - they are a delightful addition to any history-bounding wardrobe.

I loved these boots! Fit great and were super comfy! Everyone at my job always wondered how i could wear them. Lasted several 8 hour retail shifts on my feet! I would highly recommend.
Now i did write past tense. Wore this on a day i expected to do a lot of sitting and at one point i ran outside to help with carts. I lost a heel on one of my boots. Never even felt them catch on anything. All my other shoes came with a spare set of heels, except these ones. Repair/temporary replacements are being researched.

I was so nervous ordering these, even after reading reviews that they run true to size, because that's happened to me sooo many times where reviews or the company says 'true to size' and I find that they're not--or maybe my foot is just weird?

This disproves the latter. The length of my foot from back of heel to tip of longest toe is EXACTLY 24.5 cm (maybe 1-2 millimeters shy) which is supposedly a US 8.5 and yet every time I buy shoes I always have to go up to a 9--BUT NOT THESE! They are actually true 8.5s in the sense that my 8.5 foot fits in them WITH ROOM FOR SOCKS. WITH ROOM FOR MY TOES! I was so flabbergasted when I tried them on at home I ended up just wearing them in my living room for a half an hour staring at them in sheer awe and wonder.

The best part? MAD COMFY. I can FEEL the GROUND underneath my feet--you know how most shoes make you feel like you're walking on a small platform on the ground? No, I can feel uneven ground, cracks, rocks, and it's AMAZING. The leather soles do an amazing job at protecting your feet while also moving with them, it is literally like nothing I have ever experienced before.

I was also worried my arches would mean me having to move some buttons over because they are pretty high but that was not the case! The elastic the buttons are sewn onto is genius because they move and give as your foot flexes and I seriously cannot sing the praises of these shoes enough. 10000/10!!!! And no break-in period required!

After going down a rabbit hole once again (for the billionth time) of the Victorian aesthetic, and realizing that I am an adult with money, I finally got a pair of shoes that ACTUALLY FIT and were meant for the period that I am looking to sew for. I was a bit worried that they would be a bit too narrow as I have larger feet (US size 11); but I found the Renoirs to be quite comfortable, with minimal needing to stretch in my right foot; which of course even my day-to-day shoes are in need of so this was no news to me. I even got a super speedy reply when I was worried if the shoes would fit since I am on the larger side. Having that relief that I would exchange them for the next size up (as 11.5s are not offered at the moment), I took the plunge to purchase a pair! It took some time to get used to using a button hook to put shoes on, but once I got the hang of it it just felt so natural! I wear these not only when I am history-bounding, but also with my every-day wear. Of course, now I want them in every color, and I am eyeing the Tavistock style as it is similar to these! They're easy to walk in, feel very supportive in the ankle, and the heel is low and comfortable.
