Ideal for the gentleman of substance, this traditional knee-length double-breasted frock coat reflects the refined style favored by Victorian businessmen throughout the latter half of the 19th century. Structured and dignified, it delivers a commanding silhouette appropriate for both business and formal occasions.

Designed with a seamed waist and full knee-length skirt, this coat features two rows of fabric-covered working buttons at the front and two-button cuffs. The back is detailed with elegant pleats and additional fabric-covered buttons for an authentic period finish. One interior breast pocket provides discreet storage, while the absence of exterior pockets maintains a clean, tailored appearance.

Measuring approximately 46 inches in length, this coat offers a structured, knee-length profile.

Crafted from a wool-blend fabric (70% polyester, 18% wool, 12% rayon) and fully lined for comfort.

Sizing Notes
Our coats are made with typical American sizing, meaning your chest measurement (in inches) is the size you should choose.
To measure your chest: Raise your arms slightly and measure just under your arms. Be sure to cross over the shoulder blades and the fullest part of the chest. If your belly measures larger than your chest, use your belly measurement for coat size.
Longs: If indicated in the selection list (e.g. 46L,) long sizes may also be available. Longs are approximately 2" longer in the back and sleeves.

I bought them for an opera I am working on this summer. The frock coats look really nice, are a great summer light weight, and are true to chest size.

Light and wearable but overwhelming

Ordered two sizes below measured, got four sizes below measured, and the coat was still much too big. The fabric is nicely light, but feels almost too much so. Be aware that the double-breasted design will likely entirely obscure any vest worn beneath it when closed, and looks a bit silly when open. If you're looking for a one-stop-shop for your entire funeral / businessman costume, though, this is probably a good match.

The material this coat is made from is horrible,nothing like the original coats .Coat looks good but material its made from makes it feel cheap.

Not a fan of high poly content in blend. Suggest 25% or less of poly. Thx

The perfect coat

This is my first time ordering a coat from Historical Emporium and I am incredibly satisfied.

The fit is awesome, the length is perfect.

Only downside, without really being one, is that the sleeves are slightly long a few centimeters. Nothing alarming, since it is something that is easily arranged in a sewing store.

All in all: a big 5 star for everything! The quality of the fabrics and the thickness of the garment make it an excellent choice for our Canadian climate.

I highly recommend it for its awesome Victorian look.

Nice lightweight coat

This wool is a tropical weight wool. Has a smooth hand and nice drape. Lightweight so it's a good 3 season coat. If you're always hot it's a good 4 season coat.
