Inverness Wool Cape - Gray

Temperatures are dropping here as Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas bells will soon be ringing. Each year in our town, we celebrate the season with downtown merchants staying open late, carriage rides on Main Street, mulled cider, chocolates, and other Yuletide frivolities with many locals in Victorian Era dress. I too, shall be attending in fine form, and warm as toast with this Inverness Cape to keep the cold at bay and present an appropriately attired image. I'm very happy with my new cape as well as all of my purchases from your establishment!

Purchased this for general Fall/Winter wear. Quality cloak. Well made, heavy and warm.

Needed a coat for the Great Dickens Fair at the Palace of Cows. Couldn't be on the streets of London without at least a cape. Nice compliment to my black tail coat. The cape could use a tag on the inside where you usually find one. Not so much to hang it but for orientation. There is a lot of fabric and it's difficult to put the cape on.

a tad longer than expected. The one size fits all is ok, but I may have it tailored. But overall i am very happy with the purchase

I bought this to wear with kilts when the weather gets cold and damp. The fit is perfect and it will keep me warm. Very good quality for the price.

I still had not sufficient time to use the item. All in all it us ok. The wool is a bit scruffy.
The length perfect even for a smaller person like me.

I purchased this for a Sherlock Holmes costume and it fit the bill perfectly. It has an elegant drape due to the weight of the fabric and is very warm. I couldn't be happier with this garment

I'm what is known as a serial kilter . Which simply means if I'm not at work I'm in a kilt. The cape I bought will be a great addition to my outfits in the winter when it gets cold here in Ohio and I'll still look stylish and look even better once I remove it. I purchased this not for historical purposes but as a layering option. We've had a few cold days so far here in southern Wisconsin, and the Inverness Cape has performed very well. It's quite warm, and though I was worried about sizing since it's a one-size garment, it fits me well. Even generously; I'm 6'0" with 34-inch sleeves and the cape falls just above my wrists and mid-calf. I've worn it over a collared shirt and over a fleece hoodie, and I'm confident that it will fit over a heavier coat as well. The one criticism I'd offer is that the front of the cowl is liable to blowing open in the wind. A button to secure the cowl in front would be a convenient addition, though possibly not historically faithful to the garment as worn originally. I might work with a tailor to add some method of securing the cowl against the wind. But that's a minor point; I would still buy this cape again and I'm quite happy with the purchase.

I purchased this to for Dickens on the Strand this December, and to take with me to Scotland but it was more than I needed for Scotland. I look forward to wearing it this winter.

I bought this cape for my wife - yeah, I know its a man's cape But, it makes for a great cold weather outer garment for her to snuggle up in when out in chilly/cold weather. The size is just right for her to fully wrap herself up comfortably while sitting watching events.

I wore it together with other Emporium Clothers for the Charles Dickens Festival in Deventer, Holland.
It fits perfectly, is very good material and keeps wonderfully warm.
I only can recommend it

The coat with cape flaps design means you can use this coat in changing weather. Cold? Wrap up. Heating up...throw the flaps back and cool down. Excellent quality and very comfortable.

This is a nice garment. Heavy weight wool. Long. Makes you look like a Victorian vampire. I am pleased, Good value. No complaints.

Exactly what's advertised. The color is wonderful, it's nice and warm, and the lining means it slides easily over any other layers. Can't wait for it to get cold so there's more occasions to wear it!

We live in Michigan and winters can get pretty bitter. My husband had been looking for an Inverness cape for a couple of years, but they’re pricey or costume-y.

I stumbled on this one while trying to find the name of the style coat and was surprised to see it was made of wool…and had good reviews. This one runs about the same price as a good quality topcoat, so it wasn’t unreasonable.

When he opened it, he was delighted for three reasons:
1) It fit! he’s 6’4” and broad-chested, so normal clothes are screaming for mercy)
2) It was a heavy-weight wool. This weighs more than the Swiss-issued military dress coat he has. Fits him better, too.
3) It is warm. We are at the beginning of our winter and it was too warm for him at 32°.

Full size cape with no skimping. Quality wool, fully lined, and full length. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a genuine usable over cape. This is not a flimsy costume cape. It’s the absolute real thing. First rate. Worth every penny and much more. Wow

Beautiful! Classic appearance; Well made; performs well even while wearing a suit beneath the cloak. Both fantasy and vintage style mixed together. Exactly what I ordered; exactly what I imaged.

This is a cape, and some might not understand what that means when they purchase, because most folks in the U.S. don't go about wearing capes often. Good wool, good liner, very warm, good design. It is a "one size fits most," garment. People who are less than 5 feet tall will probably find this coat too long (although it can be tailored). It is much bigger than I thought that it would be. The benefit is that it will fit over whatever you are wearing. It will fit over and protect/conceal your clothes, baby, lap dog, armour, weapons, tools, backpack (but maybe not all at once its not totally Mary Poppins.) It will also make a general purpose blanket if you are trapped in the cold somewhere. I recommend it. Capes for everyone.

I bought the black...I normally wear a large...the Cape fit extremely well....very long..a about 3 to 4 inches above the ankles... that's exactly what I wanted...great for a person who likes or needs to wear suits to work..this fits perfectly over jacket and does not make bullkie like regular long wool dress coats. The delivery was also faster than I expected...overall, if you are on the market for a formal wool cape like you see in the picture, then this is for you.. I would say this coat will fit from a large to an xlarge... don't know beyond that or below for a medium might be too big... that's my perception guys as I said I am large..and I could see someone a little heavier than me (5'9 190lbs.) Fitting into this because it is a cape which allows for more space inside

The inverness Cape is a beautifully crafted item in 100 percent wool! I can't afford a Harris Tweed one for my highland kilt oufit but this will do wonderfully

This cape is quite stunning. I previously purchased the Inverness Ulster in tan herringbone, and I am just as happy with this. I will need to have this one shortened slightly, but that is due to my lack of height, not to the product. Historical Emporium is a class act through and through.

This cape is well constructed of high quality materials, definitely an asset as an everyday coat or costume. I am very happy with this purchase, it was exactly as advertised and arrived on time in great condition.

Button hole for the top button is not in the right place causing a wrinkle , because the next button hole is too close to the top one. I'll have to have it fixed here. Other than that I have enjoyed wearing it.

I've had my eye on this Inverness Cape for some time and finally purchased it to wear at Dickens on the Strand in Galveston Texas. The event was held this past weekend and I couldn't be happier with how the cape fit, looked and performed! I'm six foot tall and the cape is a perfect length for me. It's made of weighty 100% wool with a nice satin lining and is period correct in every respect. The Cape is very well styled and toasty warm. It also has two generously sized pockets which came in very handy. A PERFECT winter weather garment addition to my Regency/Victorian wardrobe. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase!!!

Ever since I was a kid, I have LOVED this look in film. I kept watching this item over the past two years and finally just ordered the darn thing...lol. SO GLAD I DID! It is exactly what I was expecting and looking for. It's a heavy weight, but that's OK, it's rare that you not only get "what" you paid for but MORE than you paid for, but this is one of those purchases. It just sets that air of mystery I've always loved about this look. BRAVO, Historical Emporium. You didn't just "meet" expectations -- you EXCEEDED them with this item!
